China suddenly uses harsh tones towards North Korea

I'm to blame for all translation mistakes:

Krise in Fernost: China zeigt Nordkorea seine Grenzen auf - SPIEGEL ONLINE

"China suddenly uses harsh tones towards North Korea"
In an unusually harsh form, China has warned North Korea of a further escalation of the situation. The government in Beijing is apparently losing patience with their ally. Before that happened, Pyong'yang had turned towards their powerful partner. (...)

Although China's President Xi Jinping did not mention North Korea explicitly, the message was unambigous: No country shall be allowed to pull a region or even the entire world into chaos, out of egoistic motives, Xi said at a gathering on the south Chinese island Hainan.

Diplomats like the former US ambassador in China, Jon Huntsman, called Xi's statements "without example". China is apparently losing patience with its ally, the diplomat said. (...)
What do you think? Will that calm North Korea, or will it rather foster its regime's impression they're with the back against the wall and there is just one way out -- war?

What I really hope that it would happen is for NK to allow international observers to take data on the ground whether they really are holding their nukes back or not. Just observers to really make sure NK is backing of... for start...

I don't get it. NK is one of the few communist countries left. Communism is no longer a worldwide threat. So, why pressure them? Let them have some nuke tests and their bomb. May they will shut up and live peacefully.

All this gun rattling is no good for anyone.

I guess we all could care less if NK actually just lived its pathetic life in peace. But they now threatened nuking all kind of other nations, you know ...

I am glad China finally said something.
There are limits on what sanctions from the west can do,
China on the other hand, controls almost all of NK other resources.

Because they feel pressured and probably even cornered, that was my point.
Why can't the UN leave them live their pathetic life is beyond me.

This is naive thinking, it wouldn't happen that way.

NK would have to think that it's motives were egotistic, which I highly doubt they do.

I completely understand why Iran and NK are acting the way they have. Iraq and Afghanistan. (along with all the Arab spring contestants)

If those countries had had nukes, we'd still be 'negotiating' with them.
