Then you are an irresponsible gun owner. You should take a gun safety class and accept some personal responsibility.

Yes, it is. And sometimes it's a terribly cruel thing. I hope your brother's wife will come around eventually and share what your brother said. Not knowing must be awful for you.

You mean because guns are dangerous and shouldn't be freely available to any yahoo?
Many Trump supporters have lots of problems, and those deplorables are bringing those problems to us. They’re racists. They’re misogynists. They’re islamophobic. They're xenophobes and homophobes. And some, I assume, are good people.

Nope that is not what I mean. You are a reckless gun owner, so you are to blame if something happens, not some guy in Kansas who wants to go hunting, and you should be punished not him

Oh. Right. Well, nothing's happened, so I guess I'm OK.

One question has to be why you have a "loaded piece" on every coffee table. Another is whether you want to divert this thread into one about gun control.

It's actually completely normal for people to be able to pull themselves together enough to write a coherent sentence or two in the midst of tragedy. It's not unreasonable for him to sit at a computer and type an e-mail to the church staff saying, "Hey, I'm probably not gonna be there this weekend...."

I have a lot of respect for Rick Warren. He's one of the evangelical preachers who are willing to let people have different opinions than he does. He also gave the prayer at Obama's '08 inauguration, how many evangelicals would have done that?

You seem to think I am criticizing Pastor Warren. I am not. I was commenting on something I hope you know nothing about first-hand.

Actually, I was agreeing with you and expanding upon what you said.

"Unfortunately, he also suffered from mental illness resulting in deep depression and suicidal thoughts. Despite the best health care available, this was an illness that was never fully controlled and the emotional pain resulted in his decision to take his life."

It is sad that the "best health care available" did not include keeping a gun away from him. He would be alive to day if they just did that one thing.
