I'm not a conservative, but the majority of them that are against schools teaching sex ed simply believe it is the job of parents, not schools.

    Good evening, HOJ.

Many parents feel that subject should be handled in the home, especially when they learned what was being taught in the schools. They didn't teach "sex education" when I was in high school, but the subject matter was covered in Biology at a very rudimentary level. At any rate, why are there so many teen pregnancies these days? Either the kids aren't paying attention, or their curiosity is being piqued, or something... :

Yeah, that's wrong, as I pointed out. It's rather stupid to bemoan the state of the world where young people engage in sex, and then say, but I don't want to teach them about it.

As to libertarians not being conservatives, don't buy it. The only difference between conservatives and libertarians is libertarians don't want their servants to use the indoor plumbing. Also the former prefer to live in mansions; the former in bunkers.

Parent can feel what they want. I'm one of them. The issue is if (as Canada did) you bemoan the state of young people engaging in sex, the answer is more education not less.

If you're denying that, I think that's the problem. Either one believes in education as a means to ameliorate social problem (the progressive position), or you don't (the conservative position). If you take the conservative position, they have no business complaining about young people having sex. It's totally natural.

Good for you for not being happy. BTW where does it say in our laws your happiness is our responsibility? You have a right to pursue it, but I never saw anything about finding it. Oh, and when you care about things like DXM and benedryl let me know.

I don't even know what DXM is. IF benedryl is harmful, at least the kids took it with my permission and I probably bought it for them. Somehow letting 14 and 15 year old girls who supposedly are minors and under their parents control, responsibility walk into a drug store and buy the morning after pill with out the knowledge of those who are suppose to take care of them, it just don't seem right.

Of course having sex that young doesn't seem right to me, although I assume it is perfectly alright with you. After all they have the morning after pill.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Except there is no proof that this action will lead to fewer unwanted children or teenage mothers.

    Princeton University states:

"But making ECPs (like Plan B) more easily available has not yet resulted in a decrease in unintended pregnancies in any population, because women do not use EC every time they have sex" (I think this is also from the Plan B website)

Re: Judge strikes age restrictions for "morning after" pill

I am against this. There are so many problems with this and really no benefit to it.

We have young adults who are starting to use Plan B as primary birth control. Teenagers are even more likely to do this. (I personally know someone who used Plan B as her primary form of birth control, couldn't afford it in time and got pregnant.)

Plus, teens are the responsibility of their parents. Their health is their parents' concern til they are out on their own. Plus, parents are more likely to know about possible problems that could come up with conditions a teen may have than the teen themselves, especially when it comes to some of the disorders/diseases that aren't really a big deal except when it comes to adding certain hormones to your body (I have one of those, why I'm limited on what BC I can use). Teens don't think about all these things, parents are more likely to think of these things.

I have no issue with Plan B, nor even with teenagers having sex. I think teens should be encouraged and taught safe sexual practices. Allowing easy access to this pill means that teens, who are notoriously lazy, irresponsible, and/or concerned about disappointing their parents are likely to be prone to use Plan B as primary birth control rather than the emergency birth control it is meant to be.

Evidence of misuse being common of Plan B.
