I am all for consumer responsibility. You can read in the other thread we are discussing (we meaning you and I regarding wages). However, with food the responsibility first starts with those who are producing it. Cigarrette manufactures cannot run around telling you how great they are for your health. Neither can crack dealers (if they were sold legally). However food companies are given a green light to manipulate, decieve or flat out lie to their consumer base. If they are being in honest, the consumer has complete responsibility, however, that is not the case. People all day every day are told X is healthy and they eat it assuming that it is. People are destroying their bodies and believing they are doing the right things. It is not the same.
In addition, Monsato (and others) have successfully lobbied Congress to pass laws which forbid sellers from providing information about the product, such as whether it contains GMO's, or BHG's.
