Like I said, i don't like his nannyism, but when you lie like that and people realize what you are saying is not actually happening you become like our cable news networks.

It is annoying to the consumer who would like to try different things, but for the most part smokes are bought out of habit, or because they are the popular brand. This whole thing actually reeks of an attempt to hide cheaper alternatives to boost sales of marlboro and newports. if they really want to make laws that keeps kids from smoking they should outlaw parents who say no to kids smoking. there is the biggest cause of kids smoking right there, being a damn nanny. I tell you if you told kids they could not peirce their skull with a railroad spike we would have a real population crisis.

I agree the anti-smoking nannies are getting way out of control, but nothing is going to stop smoking.

Did you just make that up or were you holding onto it for a while?

I really can't stand the tendency of people to make bold claims without backing it up at all.

There is no lie with Bloomberg having the thought that he believes he can make choices for others. Moreover and do so basing excuses on Health or public safety and preaching it is done for the betterment of all.

Lets not forget he was the one to issue the Smoking ban in NYC as well. Or was behind it.

Well, also Bloomberg would stop them from Honoring Coupons and Discounts too he is also proposing a minimal price.

NYC plan would keep tobacco products out of sight.....

Shops from corner stores to supermarkets would have to keep tobacco products in cabinets, drawers, under the counter, behind a curtain or in other concealed spots. Officials also want to stop shops from taking cigarette coupons and honoring discounts, and are proposing a minimum price for cigarettes, below what the going rate is in much of the city now, to discourage black market sales.

The ban on displaying cigarettes follows similar laws in Iceland, Canada, England and Ireland, but it would be the first such measure in the U.S. It's aimed at discouraging young people from smoking.

"We're doing these health things to save lives," Bloomberg said Monday.

The billionaire mayor, who also has given $600 million of his own money to anti-smoking efforts around the world, began taking on tobacco use shortly after he became mayor in 2002. Adult smoking rates have since fallen by nearly a third — from 21.5 percent in 2002 to 14.8 percent in 2011, Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said

Stores that make more than half their revenue from tobacco products would be exempt from the display ban. Customers under 18, the legal age for buying cigarettes in New York, are barred from such stores without parents.

New York City smokers already face some of the highest cigarette prices in the country. Including taxes, it's not uncommon for a pack to cost $13 or more in Manhattan. The proposed minimum price, also including taxes, is $10.50.....snip~

If the Revolution War were to take place today, NY and MA would side with the British.

The sad thing is that I was born in NYC many years ago.

My kids want to visit, but I have vowed to never return, and I rarely say 'never' about anything.

It would make me truly sick to see those subjugated fools on the street.

If NY ever had CCW reciprocity with OH, I might consider it, but that will never happen in my lifetime.
