France's Hollande approval rating below Le Pen's: poll | Reuters

French President Francois Hollande's popularity has fallen to the lowest level since he was elected last May, taking his rating below that of far-right leader Marine Le Pen for the first time, a poll showed on Sunday

When the left meets reality. The golden goose has been beaten, killed, and its foie gras turned into pâté for fat cat union leaders and bureaucrats to dine on.

There is only so much money, and Hollande is the most recent leftist leader to learn that fact.

He lost all credibility with his infamous 75% tax rate on the rich. Struck down by the french courts in a humiliating repudiation of the so-called "centrist" socialist.

Now, he's just the butt of jokes as his country drowns a socialist big-gummit glutton. Not the first, and sadly, not the last.

But still, he was elected and a President still remains a President even if his popularity is in the toilet. Of course... this is cause for a referendum.

However.

France is a semi-presidential republic, and, by law, the affairs of government lie with the Prime Minister. So a more accurate poll would be to display the way the socialist party in France is doing overall. But the article does mention that PM Ayrault popularity is also fading away. Not surprising since he is considered widely incompetent and weak. I remember reading in Le Monde something about the way the French people are disappointed in the government. You may not have heard of Ayrault at all since he is not really a person of public image outside of France. He has had few and far between diplomatic engagements and he keeps a low profile. Also, the fact that the office of the PM, in France, doesn't have much to do with the EU, also keeps him out of the general image.

So while it is highly unlikely that for the duration of this term, Hollande won't suffer, there may be cause for him to disband the current government (PM + ministers) and have a new government and a new PM put in place.

/shrug, the last right wing President suffered the same problem after election and never regained his footing. Granted he suffered it because he was chasing skirt on the tax payer dime while the world economy was imploding.
