Clearly it's time for more sanctions, and sending Dennis Rodman over as an official ambassador.

If I saw this, I'd want to nuke America, too.

Re: Nort Korea Vows Nuclear Attack.

The question of North Korea, its nukes and missles and threats, is a more complicated and potentially serious issue than many people appreciate.

For one thing, it isn't just NK. NK is deeply involved with China and Iran, and Russia may have a finger in the pie somewhere too.

NK is and has always been a Chinese client-state. A somewhat fractious one... but make no mistake about it, NK would not be acting in this manner without some degree of Chinese approval and encouragement.

NK and Iran have been comparing notes on "how to become a nuclear power in defiance of the West and the UN" at the very least... and probably sharing technical expertise as well, much of it gleaned from China and Russia with the support of those two powers.

Has it occurred to anyone what a wonderful stalking-horse and scapegoat NK and Iran make for China and Russia? The two second-tier powers can use their puppet states to provoke and distract the USA without having their own fingerprints on it publically.

There is even speculation that it goes much further than that, and involves cooperative agreements aimed at taking the USA off the "global alpha dog" pedestal, using a multi-pronged approach.... which may, at some point, involve NK throwing us a nuke.

Google Electromagnetic Pulse and consider what one nuke in the upper atmosphere could do to the US power grid and communications, and possibly even the transportation network.

For those saying "poo" to the threat NK may pose, or saying it is several years away, consider what they might accomplish much sooner with direct aid from China, who already has ICBMs and minaturized nuke warheads.

As for "oh they'd never do it we'd nuke them back".... are you sure? Are you sure that Kim Jong Un believes that?

The answers to those two questions could make a far more serious difference than most of you probably realize.

Say North Korea throws a missile at South Korea, Japan or even the US unprovoked NK would get obliterated and China would do absolutely nothing, Iran would probably try to use it as an excuse to bomb Israel, however China would prevent them from that.

Honestly, If that crap happened I wouldn't be shocked if China beat North Korea down themselves just to save diplomatic relations with the rest of the industrialized world. Is North Korea really worth WWIII??? hell no. However North Korea is fair game if they attack someone - no nation will back North Korea if they start attacking. This is why North Korea is a joke.

Mr Nick, nuclear weapons and ICBMs under the control of a man whose grasp of reality may be quite tenuous, is no joke at all.

As for whether we would turn NK into a radioactive glass ashtray in retaliation... that actually isn't a foregone conclusion at all, and Kim Jong Un may well believe he can get away with it due to assumptions on his part that China would back him. Which may be exactly what China wants him to think...

China may well be prepared to cut NK loose or smack them down their self... AFTER they get NK to do what they want NK to do, and get to let the blame fall on someone else. That doesn't mean they aren't covertly supporting Kim Jong at this time, for reasons of their own.

Kim Jong-Un is a 28-year-old kid educated in Switzerland that is doing nothing more than towing his fathers ideas and continuing his policies.

That kid isn't going to do a damn thing besides talk crazy.

Like I said, if the kid wanted to get rash and attack the US, China would do absolutely nothing about it if we attacked in response. I honestly believe China would handle it themselves (destroy North Korea).

North Korea is not worth a WWIII.

China depends on the US and the US depends on China. Obviously Iran and Russia are a different story. Iran is looking for any reason to bomb Israel to start a ****ing holy war.

If North Korea was the aggressor China would do absolutely nothing in North Koreas defense.

I didn't say China would defend NK after NK launched a nuke attack on the US. The question is what does Kim Jong Un believe they will do... he may be being lead to believe otherwise, on purpose.

An EMP attack on CONUS would cause a crisis the likes of which hasn't been seen in centuries, crippling the US. China might see this as an opportunity to exert the dominance over the Asian-Pacific region that it has long desired.

I'm not saying that is what IS going to happen; I'm saying it is a possibility that should be taken seriously, and a reason not to merely ignore a possible threat from NK.

As to assertions that the US can defend itself from any NK missles, that claim falls a bit flat... defense against cruise missles and short-range missles is one thing, defense against ballistic missles that detonate 200 miles above the surface is an entirely different matter.

EMP. Study it and you'll understand why it worries me, and why one rogue state with one nuke-tipped ICBM could do untold damage to all of North America.

Like most dictators, he wants two things: first to unite his people against a common enemy (like Hitler did), and second, to flex what he thinks are international muscles (which he does not have, nor did his predecessors) to make himself feel important and powerful. He is a little man, from a little country that tortures and starves his own people for personal gain. Rest assured any aid that was sent to NK never made it to where it was supposed to go.

On the contrary, they have food, but the big-shots and military leaders get it all.
