What the hell is partisan about this? Iran is not a threat. North Korea is. And by all evidence, NK does not have the ability to strike the United States. But it is hellbent on obtaining that ability and continually states that it plans to use it. There is nothing partisan about seeing reality. If the United States is to have an interventionalist policy (which may or may not be the right policy), then we should use it wisely, not just to satisfy the desire of Evangelical extremists to have a holy war against their favorite religious enemy. The Middle East has been attempting to modernize for decades. That movement was interrupted by the intervention from the US and the USSR during the Cold War, but they are still travelling in that direction. If we can avoid armed conflict with nations like Iran or Pakistan, they will be eager members of the modern world within this century. North Korea, meanwhile, continues to be the most extreme example of a human rights abusing, totalitarian, militaristic, fascist dictatorship in the world.
Your doomsaying about North Korea attacking the US now is totally unfounded. Their rockets cannot reach us. But if we let them sit for another 20 years, that will no longer be the truth. Seoul might be in danger? Seoul is in danger now. A swift attack to disable North Korea's nuclear arsenal is the only way to ensure that we remain so. Unlike Iraq and Iran, this enemy is determined to harm us, will have the ability to do that if we wait, and is actually crazy enough to start a nuclear war.
Iraq had a larger military when we attacked them, and no one was afraid to attack because of what they might do to Kuwait or Israel in retaliation. I have no idea why you would choose to appease the actually dangerous enemy in the world and continually advocate attacking someone who does not threaten us. Is it just for religious reasons? That's the only motivation that seems to make any sense.
