Do you know that there is not a single place in the entire world where drugs are legal? Well, actually, there is one - North Korea does not have an anti-pot law. Even Holland, famous for drug cafes does NOT have legal pot. They keep it illegal but work their way around that by regulating the crime. Why? Because we all signed on to the drug laws.

This faux outrage about the UN I've heard for the last 40 years. Americans always consider themselves to be above the world's laws because we are so ****ing exceptional. All the whining in the world won't change reality by one iota. We signed a contract - our President Richard Nixon (R) a notorious Jew did that. What a Liberal he was!

I see you figured out that it's those evil Jews behind all this. When you graduate grade school, consider a career as a detective.
We are, or were exceptional in that we for one have a Conztitutional that shows our rights are inalienable.

That is if God grants them, then no man should be able to take them away.

Also wev'e chosen for decades to embrace the notion of free markets and individual freedom and made the choice of NOT wanting our Government to step in and be our mommies.

Pot ? I hate that ****. But, I don't think anyone should go to prison for smoking it either.

There are millions of laws that "take away your freedom". Indeed, I constantly hear from both right and left a desire for more laws that will take away "the other guys" freedom.

That doesn't mean I advocate those laws. But they are my evidence that "freedom" is a very elusive concept.

As per my previous posts in this thread we agree that:

Pot is NOT good for you and it SHOULD be legal. But it isn't legal and it never will be. You can thank Mr. Anslinger, Mr. Hoover and Mr. Nixon for that.

You'll have to name them. Honestly I'm not a libertarian and realize the rule of law is needed to make sure someone else's "freedom" doesn't impose on your freedoms.

Well this could be the issue that brings the left and right together for once. I don't think either wants the UN to call the shots on this matter in their locality.

Re: UN: Colo., Wash. legal pot violates drug treaties

The clearest one is the drug laws which is the OP topic.

There are also laws that affect voting, driving, farming, taxing, manufacturing etc.

Many laws don't seem to directly affect other peoples freedoms but those laws are in place nevertheless. Freedom sounds objective but in practice, it is very subjective.

You have very little to fear from the UN. It's the US you have to worry about.
