Former Gov. Jeb Bush Not Ruling Out 2016 Campaign For Presidency

Does he have a chance, or is the name Bush to toxic to win? Being a liberal, I wouldn't vote for him, however I've always thought he had his act better than his brother, the for POTUS.

He'd be dumb to rule it out. Being a Bush in the GOP is similar to being a Kennedy or a Clinton with the Democrats.

If he does run, it'll be fun to watch Bob Smith University backtrack about how horrible Catholics are.

I think he'd probably be a top tier candidate in the primary along with others like Marco Rubio and Bob McDonnell. I also think Bush would have one of the better chances of the prospective Republicans to win in the general, despite the public's dislike for his brother.

I would say that Americans learned from the first two not to put another Bush in the whitehouse....but then again.....there are still 29% of Americans that think GWB was a good President...so almoist 30% of the Country would likely vote for him straight out of the gate.

As someone who promoted Jeb Bush in the last Republican primary and who has already gone on record as believing he will be the next President of the United States, I'm not surprised by this development and encouraged by it. This is a perfect time for Bush to get out there, while Obama is becoming irrelevant and before a new Democrat voice dares challenge Obama's leadership in the party. The vacuum in leadership voices can be filled by his reasoned, adult, respectful approach to seeking solutions to today's problems.

I hope he doesn't... I'm not a fan of dynastic governance when it comes to the POTUS. People should not be voted into office for having a certain last name, and you can bet he would get a lot of votes based on that alone.

This right here might (will) hurt his chances:

Jeb Bush Book Rejects Path to Citizenship for Undocumented Immigrants - ABC News
Earlier today, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) came out against a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, reversing his previous position on the central tenet of comprehensive immigration reform.

According to a copy of Bush's new book "Immigration Wars," obtained by ABC News, the ex-governor's plan specifically rules out the possibility of undocumented immigrants obtaining full citizenship if they remain in the United States. Bush makes an exception for young undocumented immigrants, known as DREAMers, who were brought to the U.S. as minors.

I would vote for Jeb Bush. He is probably one of the few that could really energies the base and bring in the independents.

The problems repubs have with winning the white house have more to do with the party than any particular candidate

In order to win the nomination, he'll have to win the votes of every rightwing loon, and we all know what that means. Conspiracy theories, denial of scientific verities, and support for the policies and politicians with socially repugnant views. He will have to pander to the extreme fringe of the right on abortion, immigration, gay rights, evolution, religion, race, etc.

And as a result, he'll lose whatever pretensions he has of being perceived as a moderate and reasonable republican.

I believe you meant Bob Jones University.
