White House threatens Bob Woodward

Maybe those liberal reporters should take notice of their four decade hero and mentor has been attacked and tried to be censored by the White House that they may be next.

They should.

Bob Woodward is a legend in his own mind. He wishes to stay as relevant as James O'Keefe. Gotcha journalism is all he has left.

The feud also feeds a larger narrative because, like many others, Woodward thinks this is a very thin-skinned White House that does not like being challenged on the facts. He said that explains the senior aide’s in-your-face email. “I think when they get their rear end in a crack here, they become defensive,” he said. “This could be a huge issue if the economy takes a hit. And people are going to go back and say exactly what happened and who did it and so forth.

This statement by Woodward is more damning than the hour long shouting match.

Why the **** is it every single ****ing time I call out some right winger for making a claim without evidence I have to answer for what every left wing loon did during the Bush administration.
Since when is Bob Woodward "some right winger"?

As far as I'm concerned, Woodward can either put up or shut up. His citations have never consisted of anything but unnamed "sources" and unidentified 'high ranking officials.' For all anyone knows, it could be the janitor or he made the whole thing up.

I'm sure that's what they said about Deep Throat.

Well exactly... he does... so why not release it?

If he does I'll have something different to say.

Till he does it's bull****.

Can you provide any evidence whatsoever of most of your conversations? I'm betting..... ;)

Don't guess. That requires thinking on your part and I wouldn't want you to create any of your usual ridiculous arguments. However, you keep implying that this is linked to:

1. Obama.
2. Obama's staff.

However, here is the catch:

Prove it.

Bob Woodward says so is not enough.

1. Name the senior adviser.
2. Produce the e-mail Bob Woodward got.

------

I'll wait.

If you can't, his word alone is no reason to believe anything he says.

What a silly request. So you think someone here can provide you the email off of Woodward's computer? Really?

Frankly, good. It's about time the lefter-wing of the Press started realizing what they're dealing with. Now I hope someone central-ish defends Woodward and gets the same treatment.

Yes he has been so wrong with his sources in the past, relying on janitors, secretaries and mail room gophers.

Why wasn't the name of the senior official published?

2nd time I ask: Why wasn't the name of the senior official published?

Who in his staff threatened Bob Woodward?

I don't know if the linked story updated sometime after your posts, but I believe it's in the story

"I think they're confused," Woodward said of the White House's pushback on his reporting.

The White House aide who Woodward said threatened him was Gene Sperling, the director of the White House Economic Council, BuzzFeed's Ben Smith reported.

No clue yet on releasing of the email.

Obama is acting like a dictator. Throwing temper tantrums and releasing criminals onto lawful society. Threatening reporters. This is a disgrace.

Anyone who supports the thug in the WH should be ashamed of themselves

I'm ashamed this clown is my President

Yeah, Bush and Co did the same thing. The President has been trending in this direction for quite some time. Don't think that supporting the status quo is going to change the status quo either. This is what the Republocrats ultimately want; aggregated power beyond wisdom and advisement, isolation from the People, a new rule for them and the new aristocracy.

It's in the link I read.

The White House aide who Woodward said threatened him was Gene Sperling, the director of the White House Economic Council, BuzzFeed's Ben Smith reported.

Damn, you're right. I made it larger so it's easier to read.

Digging into one of his famous folders, Woodward said the tirade was followed by a page-long email from the aide, one of the four or five administration officials most closely involved in the fiscal negotiations with the Hill. “I apologize for raising my voice in our conversation today,” the official typed. “You’re focusing on a few specific trees that give a very wrong impression of the forest. But perhaps we will just not see eye to eye here. … I think you will regret staking out that claim.”

I'm still waiting for anyone on the right to acknowledge this and then explain how this is threatening. Every other claim or argument here is predicated on the belief that the White House actually threatened Woodward. It doesn't matter who wrote the email- the email itself is half apology and half political disagreement. I've received worse threats from my mother while planning a vacation.

If Woodward actually felt threatened, he'd bite the hand that fed him and start naming names. I don't think he will.

how many more names do you need?

Woodward is what he he is.

The man makes a living by putting himself in the spotlight.

No, the word threatens in not the same
as warns.

I understand the title was generated by the software, but it still breaks the guidelines. I have reported it, so we will see what happens.

Well ofcourse you have.

Too bad you couldn't report Bob Woodward to the Mods.

Maybe then he would stop talking about the Sequester.

I don't even need one. Because I don't think that the email in question was a threat.

The reporter that received the email felt it was. And we have the name of the person that sent it.

how heavy is that goal post btw?

Suddenly Woodward, the darling of the left for bringing down Nixon is persona non grata for standing up to Obama. Aint life grand.:)

So you are saying that Nixon was a good guy who should not have answered for his crimes?

Fill in the details.

The goal post is exactly where I left it on page four. How is that email at all a threat? I can feel threatened by a lot of things, and I can claim to feel threatened by a lot more. That doesn't make every loud noise a threat.

And I must have missed learning who sent it. Care to enlighten me?

If a boss asks a women out on a date and after she says no, he says she will regret that, every jury in the country would take it as a veiled threat. Maybe it really wasn't, but that is not how the person receiving those words would read them.

I don't fault a reporter for feeling it was a threat.

In the link, and in post 89 in huge font. you can't miss it.
