Illegal immigrants set free from detention centers as sequester approaches

Conservatives before the sequester: "We must cut spending at all costs!"

Now: "Hey you can't cut that! Stupid Obama!"

The sequester was a TP idea, and now that it's happening they're blaming it on Obama. Not surprisingly, there are people who will buy ANYTHING the GOP says. The do-nothing Congress (House and Senate) can't do their freaking jobs, and it's Obama's fault. I guess as long as you don't have to blame Boehner, it doesn't matter. The House has not passed anything to stop the sequester in this Congress. In the last Congress, yes, but not since January. The Senate, while not blameless, can't pass those bills now as they expired with the swearing in of a new Congress.

I stand corrected.
I didnt hear about any of these stories.

No problem. I try to avoid going by the first story I read these days, I've been fooled so many times.

Illegal immigrants set free from detention centers as sequester approaches - Washington Times

A two percent cut in the federal budget, out of a budget of 3 trillion, means that we can't afford to hold a few hundred more detainees? That we have to release them early, before the cuts go into effect?

What is going on here?

SOP. State governments have been using this tactic for decades. When facing a budget cut and a somewhat uncooperative public: 1. Always cut services that will greatly inconvenience and/or scare the public; 2. Always be regretful, but vocal while lamenting the cuts. Works almost every time.

So, let me get this straight: This awful, awful "Sequester" monster-thing makes the feds free people whose only "crime" was to live and work in the Land of Free without GASP! proper paperwork?

I'm beginning to seriously like this "Sequester"

Strawman.

Conservatives are not complaining that Obama is cutting stuff. They are complaining that he is threatening to cut stuff...telling the people how bad they will be hurt by the cuts...and then blaming it all on the Republicans.

You see, conservatives see Obama's actions as the political game that it is. They know he is not serious about actually reducing the size, scope and power of the government.

How is it a strawman if it's about the topic?

Of course it's a political game, everything in Washington is. Both sides agree about the fact that the sequestration is something to be avoided, it's all what they're upset about being cut. He isn't serious about reducing the size and power of the government, and neither is the GOP leadership on the Hill. If you think the GOP is, you obviously aren't paying attention.

Now why is a "not a Republican" such as yourself upset about him blaming Republicans?

Get their asses kicked back across the border? That's kind of the point of law enforcement isn't it?

Well, law enforcement just released them back into the public.

They aren't going anywhere. They are going home, in America.

There's a difference between what is happening and what ought to be happening. Anyone who is here illegally, but who has committed no crime other than that, and who has no legitimate political reason not to go home, ought to be shipped across the border of whatever country they came from immediately.

The sequester was a TP idea.

Actually, it was not. Unless Jack Lew and Rob Nabors are moonlighting at some local tea parties.

If you mean the concept of sequestration in general, it predates tea parties by more than two decades. The Balanced Budget Act of 1985 already included sequesters.

At the direction of the White House, specifically to scare the public.

Well, true calling it their "idea" is a little inaccurate, but the whole reason this is now is because of their pressure.

Viva los TPs!

Viva los TPs!

Personally, I think it's a great idea. What the right is upset about now is that it's affecting Defense spending.

But it passed the House because they thought that the GOP would have control of the Senate and have President Romney, so they'd be able to overspend on what THEY think we should be overspending on.

At the direction of the White House, specifically to scare the public.

And now the White House is claiming innocense and blaming it all on Napalitano.

The reality is, none of the illegals being let go are a public threat, it's a means of
scaring the public. When they let Ted Kaczynski or the serial killers go, then I'll pay attention.

Your privy to the detailed files of every immigrant that was let go ?

Or are you taking a pathological regimes word for it?

Thats hillarious. Its a comedy of errors over there.

Scumbags

Well, at this very point, the GOP could have claimed the proverbial high moral ground - if they could agree that spending on "defense" is still...like...spending.

I guess the "high moral ground" will have to go unclaimed, for quite awhile.....

Being on topic is not a defense against presenting a strawman. Fallacy: Straw Man

You should go back to both your and my previous posts and re-read them with that definition in mind.

Anyway, you are wrong about the GOP not being serious about cutting government...or else you are ignoring their actions for the last two years.

Also, I don't have to be a Republican to recognize and be disgusted by the blatant lies, manipulation and trickery that is being directed toward all of the American people by the Democrats and by Obama.
