Hey madman, where'd you go?
*crickets*
*crickets*
And in this case, I can relatively understand a parent trusting that a Teacher actually knew the rules they were supposed to enforce and trusting that teacher rather than going to the school to dig up the rules himself. I think that'd be a relatively standard action for most people who aren't necessarily involved in legal or political things routinely (and thus would think of that kind of thing)
It gets you guys all rilled up about something that is not really an issue. My Mom will be sending me emails about this tonight. It is a no issue that further divides the right and left for no real reason.
What a obtuse way of approaching the argument....Getting all offended that the over reacting teacher was offended at the cross arms on a marine t-shirt....maybe it is an assumption on my part about the teachers ideology, but I prefer an educated guess....See, if it were a conservative teacher, he wouldn't have reacted to the t-shirt in that manner. Only a pansy liberal gets all offended by shows of support of our troops, or their weapons...That is my opinion.
Who adores Gibbs and NCIS.
I agree with the admin, she was probably just gun-shy because of all the recent shootings.
The reaction was to the assumed rule violation. Only liberals seem to think rules should apply.
See how stupid that kind of argument is?
I don't really see this as a right/left issue.
This is more like a normal people vs morons issue. Sort of like when PETA comes out wanting us to stop swatting mosquito's. sure it is a non-story, but that it becomes national news is not surprising.
That's not true, conservatives believe in rules.
SO who is the morons? Maybe the ones making the national story out of nothing? Oh, I bet that's not what you were thinking.
the teacher is the moron. She applied a dress code intended to outlaw gang colors and violence to outlaw a Marines shirt.
As for the story itself, you are just as much a part of its national story as I am.
Could someone explain me how being annoyed at a PUBLIC, tax payer funded schools dress code = not liking smaller government?
Did you even read the linked article? This was not supposed to have happened. The USMC shirt, guns or not, was not found to be a violation of the school's dress code. The entire story appears to the the misinterprtation of the school dress code by a single teacher.
He is not involved in leagle or polotical things so he didnt think about talking to the school, his first thought was calling fox news. Yep, you are right, the sky is blue.
Ok, good and the superintendent corrected the teacher. No harm done. Now it is national news. I guess it is just me that sees a problem with the constant Fauxrages designed to keep everyone stirred up. It kinda bothers because my realtives beleieve every word of this. Tonight I will get an email about the libs in some high school that outlawed Marine Corps T shirts. Tell me there arent millions more like them out there. Talk about low information voters.
Because it doesn't really affect them, it only affects those who are under the local jurisdiction involved.
Is this directed at me?
This is a true story. your relatives should believe every word of this story.
some people are so scared they will remove people of their rights for the allusion of security. Considering all the news that is being run, this seems as good as any.

No, It was intended as a reply to the thread's OP. Did I mess up?
And a random person being shot isn't national news either, and yet we were having a proliferation of such stories with that as well. Because, as Redress accurately said, most news agencies...not just fox...are businesses built around generating controversy to up readership and thus up advertiser dollars, and they glom onto sensationalized things that have no business being a national story because it helps that cause.
And the father, who the original post was seemingly referencing in terms of the comment about small government, was under that local jurisdiction.
No, but there are definitely conservatives individuals in it. Both my Sister and my Cousin would qualify as two Conservative teachers I know.
Would they have forced the boy to turn the shirt inside out, and threaten him with suspension if he didn't? Or, would they have not referred the matter to the principle?
