the teacher is the moron. She applied a dress code intended to outlaw gang colors and violence to outlaw a Marines shirt.

As for the story itself, you are just as much a part of its national story as I am.

Ok, good and the superintendent corrected the teacher. No harm done. Now it is national news. I guess it is just me that sees a problem with the constant Fauxrages designed to keep everyone stirred up. It kinda bothers because my realtives beleieve every word of this. Tonight I will get an email about the libs in some high school that outlawed Marine Corps T shirts. Tell me there arent millions more like them out there. Talk about low information voters.

Because it doesn't really affect them, it only affects those who are under the local jurisdiction involved. They can certainly have an opinion about whether or not th erule is stupid, but to actually extend to the level of annoyance or outrage about the rule, and especially to call for a change in the rule, is big government **** all the way and is in opposition to a small government mentality.

The taxes which pay for that PUBLIC institution are primarily local taxes. It's not everyone's business.

I look at this like how I look at Texas' right to teach creationism in their schools. I personally think it is phenomenally retarded to teach creationism in a public school, and I oppose the **** out of it locally, but I also support Texas' right to do something that I personally think is phenomenally retarded in their own schools. More power to them.

    Is this directed at me?

Political in the notion of political science, policy, etc...IE the type of mind that runs to check the laws when they get a ticket, or the HOA regs when they get an infraction, or the rulebook if they were called for something in a sport. I would think many people would simply trust the word of an official entity that's expected to know those laws/regs/rules such as a cop, board members, or Refs. But they may think the enforcement of said rule is wrong and want to make a stir about it. I don't actually think that's too atypical or out of the norm, which is why I don't really fault him for it. From my experience, running to the policy is not a universally common response.

no harm? the kid had to walk around all day with his shirt inside out. he was led to believe he did something wrong. Some harm was done.

This is a true story. your relatives should believe every word of this story.

some people are so scared they will remove people of their rights for the allusion of security. Considering all the news that is being run, this seems as good as any.

And the father, who the original post was seemingly referencing in terms of the comment about small government, was under that local jurisdiction.

No, It was intended as a reply to the thread's OP. Did I mess up?

And a random person being shot isn't national news either, and yet we were having a proliferation of such stories with that as well. Because, as Redress accurately said, most news agencies...not just fox...are businesses built around generating controversy to up readership and thus up advertiser dollars, and they glom onto sensationalized things that have no business being a national story because it helps that cause.
