Michelle Obama surprises Oscars by presenting Best Picture award

Here's a chance to get a free dinner.
The People's Cube is offering a reward for any video evidence of Laura Bush presenting the Oscar for Best Picture (or any category) in 2002 (or any year.)
- See more at: Laura Bush Also Presented the Oscar for Best Picture in 2002

That's the good 'ol right wing echo chamber for you parsing it down to ridiculous portions.

Laura Bush, who participated in this taped "What Do the Movies Mean to You?" segment for the 74th Academy Awards in 2002. (She shows up at around the 2:15 mark.)

But because she didn't participate in the Oscars doing the EXACT SAME THING Michelle Obama did....ZOMG!!!!111!!!! Michelle's appearance was much much worse.

You guys need to take a xanex rather than being perpetually outraged over the most inane things in such a hypocritical fashion.

She didn't participate in the Oscars at all. Not at all.

What part of that do you not understand?

And outraged over Michelle Obama? Who could possibly care what she thinks?

Except in the video I linked that you quoted and are somehow denying it's existence at the same time.

Well, apparently you and the rest of the right-wing blogosphere who are feigning outrage over her appearance seem to care enough for a nationwide whine-fest.

Laura Bush participated in a video that was shown at the Oscars. She did not participate in any of the Oscar ceremonies, and why you even mention this inconsequential appearance in a short video says more about your own grasping at some sort of equivalence then it does about Laura Bush.

I have no interest in the First Bimbo. I only got involved because others, like yourself, tried to make the claim that her appearance at the awards in order to present a major prize had already been established by a previous First Lady..

Keep fishing Grant. One day you'll find something that actually matters... AND you won't have to parse it to death to try and justify it.

It's the ****ing Oscars. Who cares.

Obvious there are some members here who get all giddy over the Oscars as much as the English get giddy over the Royals. Having Michelle on there has just upset them to no end.

I really don't see it as that big of a deal if Michelle or Laura participate in something so insignificant, it isn't like they got clothes in the dryer to fold or have to vacuum the oval office.

Exactly! Who really cares?

Attempting the claim that there has been precedent is what's really crazy here.

Crazy? I can handle "inaccurate" but..."really crazy"?

people actually watch the oscars?

Okay, I'll lower that to stupid. But that's my final offer.

If you told me that any random First Lady had appeared on the oscars I'd say, "Yeah, I guess that sounds like something a First Lady would do."

I have friends who are all over that crap. I'll never understand it.

I bet its the same guy who built his house out of the AOL cds

It seems that her appearance has upset some sensitive folks, though I don't see why, but trying to defend her appearance by claiming there were precedents makes it even lamer.
