This "scandal" is interesting in that it seems only the Vatican seems surprised by the results. I mean, come on, almost everyone with a pulse already knew the Cardinals were queer as orange beer. From movies and books to quite conversation around the dinner table, no one doubted the prevalence of hanky panky at the Vatican. It must have been the worst kept secret on earth.

This is strictly my opinion and so may not be based on anything other than what I have learned. When the current pope was just a cardinal, Pope John Paul II put him in charge of the investigations into child molestations in the church (fact). he did next to nothing while in that office. then when he became pope the **** hit thte fan and the road led to him. I understand that he is old but as i understand it the last pope to "resign" in thte 14th century did so under "questionable" circumstances.

When was the last time the Catholic Church or any major religion admitted doing anything morally or socially wrong? Duh

Every parishoner generally participates in "sex." Now, for the collection baskets to be full, it helps to have guilty parishioners and a system that allows one to purchase forgiveness, whether you just want to use a little greenmail to get forgiven what might have been some really good sex or maybe a big player who can afford to purchase a "plenary indulgence" that is a "guaranteed on paper, signed and sealed by hisself" that you goin' to heaven. Anyways, sex hits at everyone's home and puts the guilt in the right spot, usually near the wallet and this generates investment capital and petty cash for dressy bling. Da' pope, he gots da' bling and his minions threads be sporty as well, don't ya' know. The collection system be workin' flawless, methinks.
