Mass shootings toll exceeds 900 in past seven years

Has nothing at all to do with anything I said. They are not comparable. never were and never will be. You mite as well compare the flavor of an orange to the flavor of an apple. One is no better than the other and really can't be compared. Comparing gun safety to car safety and correlating cost is ridicules.

Are you kidding me? The cost to the state for making plastic cards with photos on them (CHL ID card = DL ID card, apples = apple) is the same for each "privilege". For the CHL the state does not even bear the added cost of the written or practical testing.

That is exactly what you said. You tried to justify the high cost of a CHL based on the high cost of a handgun. Stating that poor folks can surely afford both, $350 for a handgun and then an additional $240 for permission to carry rental (4 years), $70 (plus refresher class fee) for CHL renewal.

No. I was showing how it is ridicules to compare the two. In this case I must admit after re-reading it I could have been clearer and less of a smart ass. No correlation between the 2.

Has nothing at all to do with the state making money off what they see (most likely) as a luxury tax. I think that is stupid but as I said the SCOTUS said they can do it. So I have no problem with paying a small fee. Or what I consider a small fee.

There absolutely is a correlation they are both simply state issued photo ID cards - cheap pieces of plastic.

I could better accept it if the "small fee" was the same for both, after all, it is just a cheap piece of plastic with a photo on it. I still see no valid reason that the state may rent your Constitutional rights back to you or lock you up if you refuse to pay that rights rental fee. While driving is a mere state issued privilege the 2A, in its entirety (keep and bear), is a Constitutional right that "shall not be infringed".

That is not what I said. I said if they can afford a gun, that minor tax is nothing. Has nothing to do with the cost of a car or any other cost of owning a car. I was showing the cost of owning a car is and was not applicable. If you want to own something you pay the price, period. If you want a sports car, you pay the price plus all lic docs and fee's, period. Same for a gun.

Who gets to decide what item gets the (extra tax)? Why limit it to guns?
Lets go ahead and add an extra tax on vid games and consules, going to the violent movies, buying popcorn at the movies or a large soft drink. How about hammers, knives, slingshots, bows, etc.
Using your stance, if you can afford it pay the extra fee, it nothing, right?.

Adding extra laws and fees will not curtail the violence. We have laws making it a crime to rob banks. Bank still get robbed. Its a crime to murder, but murders still happen.
Maybe we need to get tougher on criminals and leave law abiding people alone.

Stop and frisk worked because they targetted people they thought were carrying concealed weapons in violation of NYC's tight gun safety regulations.

the NYC gun permit laws are idiotic and should be loosened up. Scumbags would still not be able to carry-let alone own a weapon-anyway.

Its a testament to how bad NYC is when there are attorneys in that city who specialize in getting people permits

NYC also does something almost no other city does throughout the USA-refuses to recognize a NYS permit

Unfortunately the SCOTUS says they do "states" have the right to regulate it. No denying that.

SCOTUS said that African slaves weren't citizens and therefore had no rights, too. Just because SCOTUS says it doesn't make it right.

One means you are licensed to own and drive on the street. The other means you can conceal a weapon for whatever reason. Both are arbitrarily priced, so what? One is nothing like the other and have absolutely nothing in common except the state regulates both.

PS I never said anything about the courts always being right. Have no idea where that came from.

Talk about a red herring. Slavery has nothing to do with this issue. The SCOTUS interpreted this one correctly in my opinion. Due to public safety concerns, some regulation is necessary. The general welfare does take precedent ion this case.

Well small fee is subjective. A small fee for one is not necessarily for all.

Charging a fee is not infringement according to the courts. I see why some regulation is necessary so I am in no position to complain.

It has everything to do with it, because it proves that SCOTUS doesn't always get it right.

Our elected officials. This is why we elect them, to speak for us and pass laws as we the people need or want.

That's the way the government of certain states see it. Some charge a luxury tax on motorcycles for example and some don't. It depends on the state you live in. If you don't like the laws of the state you are in, move. That's what I had to do.

Adding extra laws and fees will not curtail the violence.

I absolutely agree with this. This is not about curtailing violence as I pointed out earlier.

Again I agree. This does not however change the fact I moved to a state where I like the laws. Anyone can do it. Takes a little drive, but it can be done. I don't except excuses.

So what? That's your opinion on this specific issue. You are no more an authority on this than I am. It is your opinion vs mine. Only difference is my opinion is backed up by actual law and what the courts have decided. Does this make them right on everything? Of course not. On this issue I think they are correct. So that puts the law on my side of the debate whether you agree or not.

Are you going to say "so what?" When they come after the rest of your civil rights? Washington state is already trying take away the right to warranted searches along with gun control regulation.

Strawman. This has literally nothing at all to do with anything.

No one at this point is coming for anyone's civil rights.

Just because one state is trying to pass a stupid law does not mean it will pass. If it does, well that state voted those representatives in. We have a court system to challenge unconstitutional laws for this very reason.

I looked for such legislation at Washing States government website and found nothing. Do you have a link?

I like Arizona gun laws. open carry/concealed weapon.

"Gee, it won't pass", is the wrong answer. It should concern all of us that they would even try.

Elected officials don't have carte blanche to pass any law they want. That's why we have a costitution.

You should direct your comment at BlackManta. He doesn't realize that NYS permits are not recognized by NYC

Any mass shooting is tragic.

Yet via abortion we kill 330,000 thousand babies a year. Equal to Newtown happening 46 times every day. Just think had young master Lanza done his deeds to the same children just six or seven years earlier he'd be a hero on the left as an abortionist.

Yet that's what's being done in airports.

Because that's a prerequisite for getting on a plane, anyone who wants to turn around can do so without being frisked. You cannot do that on a city street.

English! Do you speak it? I said "does not mean it will pass" said nothing about "it will not pass." WTF am I freaking Gandalf the Grey now???

No it should not concern ALL of us because it your source is "Hot Air." Hot Air? You have got to be kidding. No wonder the government page says nothing.

Scare easy do we?

That is a lie. But par for the course.

Your dishonesty is amazing. You start off with it's the gun laws that caused a crime drop in NY and for some reason you mention Bloomberg as if he is responsible. Then I show why you are wrong on both counts and all of a sudden you are well the conceal carry laws are to restrictive as if all of a sudden you are a supporter of gun rights and the 2nd amendment.

Your posts are comical and show you know nothing on the subjects and you start off making clueless rants, then when busted out on your liberal crap, you switch so you can try to save face.

Funny how everyone can see this, and yet you still do it like all of us are stupid but you.
