A petition on the White House website is calling for President Obama to stop referring to female constituents in his many speeches as “wives, mothers and daughters.”“Defining women by their relationships to other people is reductive, misogynist, and alienating to women,” the petition to the Obama administration states.

Although I found it laughable in the SoTU speech that Obama would be taking credit for equality, and parity in the workplace between men and women, when the fact is that in his own house the disparity is about 16% for women working the exact same jobs as men, now it seems that Obama has to deal with the PC police, and outrage anarchists as well....

good.

So it should be 50% just to appease everybody?

If it were Romney it would be an issue.

Who said that?

You found the SoTU address funny because you feel he doesn't have much disparity in his cabinet, right? What percentage would he need to have to find his statement not funny, 50%?

The article also pointed out how President Obama referred to women in terms of their relationship to men. Although I'm not convinced that he's a misogynist that is language that sends out a red flag and would have been scrutinized if it were Romney or any Republican who said it instead.

You don't seem to understand the point.

What's funny is his own PC crowd finally getting on his case. You should be asking them what percentages they would be happy with.

And as for Obama taking credit for anything, that too is laughable. You must know that!

There was also a book out about sexism in Obama's White House but the women quoted said they were misquoted after the book was published.

I've never heard of it. I'm not convinced he's a misogynist though under his administration women have been give more opportunities like with the new roles opening up to them in the military, although I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not

LOL...‘misogynist’ and ‘alienating’ women...LOL

Petitioners — as of Friday morning, there were 2,223 of them...

Meanwhile in reality world...

55 per cent of female voters voted to re-elect Barack Obama - and with women making up 53 per cent of the electorate, those numbers were enough to play a significant role in keeping the GOP out of the White House.

Republicans fared particularly poorly among single women, 67 per cent of whom voted for Obama while just 31 per cent supported Romney.

I think he'll take those results.

LOL...Don't you macho cons get tired of crying every day? I mean I know Boehner is your beloved leader and all...but, c'mon. :boohoo:

I am sure there are times when he referred to men as Fathers, sons, and husbands. These aren't controversial terms.

I got the point, it is just a very manufacture point by people who have nothing better to do than find reasons to not like the President. And I guarantee there is no percentage to make these people happy.

I don't think Obama is a misogynist. (Isn't Valerie Jarrett his most trusted advisor?)

From the NY Times:

While the White House itself employs about an equal number of men and women under President Obama, the gender ratio of appointees in 11 of the 15 cabinet departments favors men.

From the Washington Times:

But President Obama’s own record on closing the gender pay gap is less than stellar. Using late 2011 figures, the latest available at the time, The Washington Times earlier this year surveyed 121 White House employees who were paid at least $100,000 and found that 47 were women and 74 were men. That is only slightly better than in 2003, the third year of the Bush administration, when 39 of the top 121 employees were women.

Romney and other other Republicans routinely use this language. I can't recall it ever being scrutinized in this fashion, although I'm sure someone has raised complaints before.

I wouldn't consider someone a misogynist simply for using poor choices in language. Given how sexism integrated itself into language, most people don't really even really think about the implications of what they say. What matters is how they react after they informed of the negative connotations. If Obama changes his wording in future speeches, it was an honest mistake, if he doesn't, we have a problem.

1. The President of the US should be held to the same level of scrutiny whether hes a democrat or republican. That is currently not the case.
2. He did not sway women voters by being for them, he swayed them by being pro abortion and borth control on someone elses dime.
3. Bold is bait. Shove it where the sun dont shine.

You don't recall the whole "binders of females" thingy you libs made such hay over, just, wait for it............................................................................................................................................................................................................................Several months ago? From the Washington Times article I linked previously:

After Tuesday’s town hall debate, President Obama is playing up his record on women’s issues and ridiculing Mitt Romney for his “binders full of women” comment, but Mr. Obama has a mixed record when it comes to hiring women at the White House.

Team Obama clearly believes he thumped Mr. Romney on the question of equal pay and job opportunities for women.

“Mitt Romney still won’t say whether he’d stand up for equal pay, but he did tell us hehas ‘binders full of women,’ ” Mr. Obama tweeted Wednesday morning, and his campaign later hosted a press call with equal pay advocate Lilly Ledbetter and Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood.

...Later Wednesday in Iowa, when talking about his commitment to education and hiring more teachers, the president hammered Mr. Romney again on the binder comment.

“We don’t have to collect a bunch of binders to find talented qualified young women” for these fields, Mr. Obama said.

But, in all fairness, he did capture the Bimbo vote quite handily.

Obama did well with women because Republicans keep saying **** like this. Ditto for the hispanic vote.
