Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job[W: 104, 181]

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

This will be fun. As usual, you blaze off on some curious trajectory completly unrelated to the point.

You claim factcheck is professional because, well, you say so. It's owned and operated by one of the most liberal/progressive organizations in the United States. That's a fact. Of course, newbusters isn't owned and operated by one of the most liberal/progressive organizations in the United States, so it isn't professional.

See how that works?

Progressives = Creating a new reality, one website at a time.

Again, Ocean, credibility has nothing to do with political affiliation. You're argument is that something is not credible BECAUSE it's progressive or liberal or Democrat. That is NOT a viable argument. It is, in fact completely illogical.

I've asked you to give me the EVIDENCE you have that shows Factcheck and Annenberg to have been discredited. Yes, you keep saying, "They're progressive"...1) that is not evidence of a lack of credibility; 2) What even makes you say they're progressive??

I want EVIDENCE, not buzzwords and buzznames. Please provide.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

No. I save that for worthy causes. How goes it 66?

If you are sincere about how I am, I will tell you that all is well with my family and I. I hope you and yours the same.

I do not make up stories, however. do you really not believe what I said about my exerience in the pool?

"....we create reality now." Someone definitely NOT a progressive, and in fact speaking for conservatives and Republicans and even a Republican administration.

So, saying Progressives create reality is itself creating reality. Don't you love that?

I think Ocean is off gathering her evidence that Annenberg/Factcheck are not reliable sources. Either that or, per usual, I asked for evidence JUST as the person I asked had to leave. That seems to happen a lot.

Typical Progressive. "I want"

Danbury, Danbury.

I can't state the facts any better than I have. Factcheck.org is owned and operated by Annenberg, one of the most biased political agenda driven organizations operating in the United States today. It ranks with, and partners with the Tides foundation, Ford Foundation, the Democracy Alliance, etc., etc.. You know this to be an absolute fact.

Your attempt to deny this is really rather interesting.

The fact is factcheckers are biased. How many articles have been written about this fact?

Should I post a link to one?

Please Danbury, don't flatter yourself. You'll get paid just the same.

It's early here on the West Coast. Mt toast was ready.

Of course I am sincere about how you are. Glad to know all is well.

Do I believe your story? No. But it's no big deal.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

I thought insider trading, backroom deals, and legislating for personal gain was reward in itself...

Her and the rest of them are a disgrace. You wonder why America is sinking, look to its "best and brightest"....

To be fair it's the people in their district and state who keep sending them back.

Okay, first of all, Ocean, I'm going to be very magnanimous here and suggest that, if you are going to use something as a source, you READ it first, and read it from beginning to end.

Your "source" that you claim is "evidence" that factcheck.org and Annenberg specifically (it isn't, btw) lack credibility AND are liberally biased, specifically states, and I quote, "Not all questionable fact-checks are slanted left. Factcheck.org brands as a falsehood the Obama camp's claim that the Republican Party platform would ban abortion even in cases of rape and incest; the platform simply doesn't mention these exemptions. Yet, since it states that "the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life," is it illogical to conclude that this right would apply to unborn children conceived through rape?"

Okay? So YOUR source to "prove" Factcheck is liberally biased and lacking in credibility actually says it is the opposite, NOT slanted left.

Second, your article is a general COMMENTARY about fact checking. It is NOT a journalistic, researched article on Annenberg and factcheck.org which presents findings as to their being not only liberally biased but lacking in credibility and EVIDENCE to those conclusions. Your article is like me saying that, say, FOX has no credibility because it's run by Roger Ailes, a known conservative, and then putting up as a source of proof of my claim a commentary by one person who is arguing that the news media AS A WHOLE CAN have problems of credibility (and then going on to specifically state that FOX is NOT right-wing biased. I would NOT use that as a source to buttress a claim of mine saying FOX has a conservative bias.).

Okay? So what I"m looking for from you are EXAMPLES of discredited information put out by Factcheck and Annenberg ALONG with documentation as to WHY it is not credible. Saying "George Soros" is NOT evidence of anything.

Okay? Can you do that?

Tip: this time, don't put up a source that directly refutes your claim. And are you now going to say your source is not a good source and is biased liberally because it says that Factcheck is NOT slanted left?

Quite a pickle you're in. I"m sure you can get out of it by saying something like, "Oh Danbury, you are just so crazy!"

that should do it!

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

Complain of Ocean's: "Libs: 'I WANT evidence! I want evidence!"

Can you believe those libs? Want, want, want? Who needs EVIDENCE when saying "Soros" over and over is enough?

Sheesh!

Okay. So where's the evidence that FActcheck and Annenberg are not credible?

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

It's okay, Ocean.

But people of character, while difficult, acknowledge when they are mistaken and/or wrong. Nothing wrong with that. We all are on occasion.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

Those people who try to distort the facts deserve no respect.
They don't try to distort the facts, they just do it. They consist of 90% of talk radio, hundreds of bloggers who are more than willing to pass a story along as long as it fits their agenda. Oh yeah, their is Fox News that mixes lies with legitimate hard news with distortions. They call this "Fair and Balanced." Their boss, Roger Ailes, a former GOP operative, isn't about to be fair.?

The beauty of it is that this house of cards will come tumblin down on their heads. We now have Sarah Palin and her fans dissing Fox News. Oh, the humanity.
The comments in this article will clue you in.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

I think most of the peoples business could be conducted via Skype. Give each a tablet or laptop, a small office in their district, and maybe meet a few days a year when it is necessary. They would be more accessible to those who serve, costs would go down, and trying to lobby each would be a nightmare.

I ran a business that way for 30 years. Never did have an office. everybody worked from home. Highly profitable and no travel time involved.

That is an idea. But I think keeping them in Washington while congress is in session without allowing them to return to their district or state would be better. Back in the day, showing my age, when travel was mostly by train and planes only had props, most members did stay in Washington during the entire session or sessions. This gave them a chance to get to know one another, to become friends with the folks across the aisle. There seemed to be less back biting and less highly partisan attitudes. Compromise and working with the other side was a lot more feasable.

Regardless, we need a congress that works more than just Tuesday through Thursday each week they are in session. Your idea has merit.

I know it is hard to tell because there are no manpants involved, but ocean is a man (at least his gender is blue and not pink in the box on the left when he posts).
I also believe he may be a ghost from my past on another forum. Am I right ocean?

Sorry samsmart this was supposed to be directed at someone else so I deleted my original comment. In any case, how are you?

I'm feeling a little guilty about using his own source to impeach him.

I can't help but think that has something to do with his disappearance. Pride goeth before a fall.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

Well, Congresspeople are doing the most to undermine the dignity of the job, so what she says there is pretty much nonsense, but it is clear and is made clear, that she's talking about staffers specifically w/r/t pay cuts.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

Makes one wonder why liberals feel the need to come into a debate site to even speak with them then doesn't it? Or is it like what liberals always seem to do, in that they dislike what they turn their current places into so they move and set out immediately to change the new place.
You can't beat this one Danbury. This guy only has confidence in preaching to the choir. He knows he can't hold up to real scrutiny. It is laughable.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

Thank you over much.

You know reading this I think its very likely she was including "people who work on Capitol Hill" when talking about not wanting pay cuts, and perhaps even exclusively talking about them. Without any context I could see it including Congressmen in her statement, but given that any politician would be careful to avoid that trap I think its unlikely. The topic seemed to be federal employees.

Yep. Its all about the "little people". Those poor folks slaving away at only $154,000/year.
