Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job[W: 104, 181]

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

And they are extremely rude if you use logic, making them look foolish.

Makes one wonder why liberals feel the need to come into a debate site to even speak with them then doesn't it? Or is it like what liberals always seem to do, in that they dislike what they turn their current places into so they move and set out immediately to change the new place.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

Relying on FactCheck.org would be like me using the GOP website to cover for any despicable utterance said by a republican congress critter. But, that aside I see that not only your self inflated view of yourself, coupled with righteous indignation, leaves your own post less about the topic at hand, and more inane drivel from the personal attack progressive than anything else.

If you have something other than that get back to me will ya?

Well, of course, when you can't argue the facts, shoot the messenger.

Factcheck.org v. Newbusters?? I think that, yes, I'll go with factcheck.org. Btw, factcheck explains WHY it's wrong.

However, as I said, people such as yourself, on both the left and right, believe what they WANT to believe and seemingly have no ability to actually process information. And then, pride gets them and they can't admit they're wrong, so it all becomes quite a mess of a divorce from reality and, as you do here, turns into a personal pissing match instead.

Btw, you DID rely on a conservative Web site for you Pelosi info., ie: Newsbusters. Just pointing out the irony to you. Anyway, the story is false. But I'm also very aware that in Republican "We create reality now" world, "true" and "false" are very subjective terms. "If we like it, it's true. If we don't, it's false."

I think I have more of an low-inflated view of you than I do an inflated view of myself, but as is expected, you frame it anyway you want it to be, and then that will be the reality.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

Oh? Is it because we can read carefully?

No it is because you are real American patriots who are educated and care about someone other than yourselves. You know how to debate rationally with facts and without being extremely rude to others who are less intelligent.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

...in that they dislike what they turn their current places into so they move and set out immediately to change the new place.

Huh? What? Anyone know what this guy is talking about?

anyway, cute little true story. So i'm at this Christmas party last December, and I'm talking to this pathologist, rabid Obama-hating conservative, all the usual language: "Obama is going to destroy this country over the next four years." "Liberals ruined it for me (where he lived in Vt.) because of taxes..." and then..."My favorite towns are Cambridge (MA) and Provincetown."

Huh?

"I hate liberals, they ruin everything, but my favorite towns are two liberal bastions."

Hmmm....Repub logic 101, I guess.

Everyone has the freedom of speech in this country and the right to debate others here as well. Is it our fault it you peole can't keep up because facts do not fit into your equations. Stick to the facts; it'll set you free.

You are aware factcheck.org is the brainchild of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, an operation that partners with George Soros and his Progressive Machine? Why is it not surprising your attached to it?

And it's predictable that they'll just say the source has no credibility and is liberal. Template response when the facts don't go their way.

Oh, my Lord! Really? Well then, that inherently means they cannot be a professional and reliable journalistic outfit!

Lol.

Sorry, Ocean, factcheck is a solid source. Besides, "I believe it because it's negative toward Nancy Pelosi" is really bad thinking and reasoning.

I have a cute little story as well.

I'm ready to get into the pool at my gym to do laps. I ask an older gentleman if he would mind sharing his lane because they were all full. He said, "if you voted for the right person". This was in late November. I said, "my family and friends would tell you not to get me started." That did not phase him. He told me boastfully that he retired from being a high school history teacher. He proceeded to ramble Faux News blather. He said, "What I don't like about Obama is that he has never had a real job and he wants to suck off the gov't. I informed him that he had done exactly that himself all his life and told him he was brainwashed. Everyone else in the pool started laughing.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

I bet if you cut congressional staff payroll they wont pass bills that are so lengthy and focus on problems piecemeal, as they probably should.

Giant omnibus bills make it oh so much easier to hide pork and bad policy.

Did you ask him if, as a high school history teacher, he indoctrinated his students to be liberals? Lol.

Hands Ocean a drool cup.

Those buzzwords and names make a mess, don't they, Ocean?

It that the new Progressive reality? It's a good source because I say it is? Newsbusters is GOP so it's biased. factcheck is owned by one of the more radical progressive operations in the U.S. and it's reliable and professional. :lamo

Sorry Danbury, no soup for you.

Don't get me wrong, I do not feel that most of congress genuinely earns their pay and benefits. What I find disturbing is people like Rand Paul who thinks gov't is the problem and then does everything he can to become the problem and prove it. Never trust someone who has something desirable and tells you what they have is the problem while they do cartwheels keeping the status quo.

I thought facts were your forte, now you don't like facts?

There you go, another radical progressive recreating reality to fit the parallel universe they live in.

Amazing to view

I told him that and more. I told him he was incompetent to teach history because he did not know how to stick to facts.

Huh? No. It's the new Conservative reality. If you don't like the info., bash the source as being liberal, regardless of whether that source documents its information or not.

:lamo Sure you did. :whothere:

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

Perhaps they should just be paid per diem with no benefits what so ever. This was what the first couple of congress's received. No pay for doing the peoples work. The idea was to donate a couple of years, a term or two from ones normal job, do ones civic duty and then return to your job. Not make a career out of being a member of congress. Per diem only, housing can be had at Ft. McNair or other military installations in the D.C. area. Have them meet and stay in D.C. thoughout each session without being able to return home. Work a full week, Monday through Friday, not Friday being a travel day to return to ones home district and Monday the day of return and only do you job Tuesday through Thursday. I could add and add, but you get the idea.

I think most of the peoples business could be conducted via Skype. Give each a tablet or laptop, a small office in their district, and maybe meet a few days a year when it is necessary. They would be more accessible to those who serve, costs would go down, and trying to lobby each would be a nightmare.

I ran a business that way for 30 years. Never did have an office. everybody worked from home. Highly profitable and no travel time involved.

Sorry, just 'cause you say so, doesn't make it so Danbury.

Re: Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job

Anyway, Ocean, your thinking is wrong right from the start. You obviously don't look at the INFO being presented, the CASE being made. What you do instead is, if it's info. you don't like ,you go looking for a NAME associated with Democrats or liberals, and then, if you find it, you automatically hang your hat on that. But that is wrong-headed. Let's see if I can illustrate this for you. Probably not, but I'll try:

"Today, mathematicians at MIT stated that 2+2=4. They found that, placing two items on a table, and then placing two more items on a table, resulted in FOUR items being on a table. This experiment was conducted using different objects, at different temperatures, and with different people placing the items on the table, and there was a 100% accuracy rate, concluding that 2+2 does in fact = 4."

Ocean: "MIT is a liberal indoctrination factory and Paul Krugman went there, so, sorry, no dice."

Huh?

Okay Ocean, let's try it this way:

Why don't you provide the EVIDENCE you have that Factcheck is not credible. And yes, feel free to start by showing the evidence you have that Annenberg is not credible. Name association is NOT evidence, btw. that is EMOTIVE, but it's not evidence. I'm recovering from an injury and can't do much, so I've got all day to hear your evidence, or wait for it, which I suspect is going to happen. Sigh.

This will be fun. As usual, you blaze off on some curious trajectory completly unrelated to the point.

You claim factcheck is professional because, well, you say so. It's owned and operated by one of the most liberal/progressive organizations in the United States. That's a fact. Of course, newbusters isn't owned and operated by one of the most liberal/progressive organizations in the United States, so it isn't professional.

See how that works?
