Josh Powell’s brother apparently committed suicide Monday by jumping off a parking garage in downtown Minneapolis.
Michael C. Powell, 30, jumped from the multi-story structure about 2:25 p.m., according to Minneapolis Police Sgt. Steve McCarty. He landed on a sidewalk next to the garage and died immediately. Five people apparently witnessed the fall, according to a police report.
Michael Powell moved to Minnesota in 2010 and was a graduate student at the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus. He was an
ardent defender of his brother Josh, who killed himself and his two sons in an intentionally set house fire in Puyallup, a year ago.
Josh Powell was the only person of interest in the disappearance of his wife, Susan Powell. She was last seen Dec. 6, 2009, at the couple’s West Valley City, Utah, home.
