Pope resigns

Most people are not aware of the Nicean Council stripping the Book of Gnostic writings, and of the Gospel of Mary, (thus women), which was also Gnostic.

As the Gnostic beliefs survived and prospered, the final solution of the Church was to massacre over 30,000 French Gnostics known as "Cathars", from the Greek word... Katharsis. At the same time, a slaughter of Templars throughout Europe, ensured that the Gnostics would have no protection against the Church.

Human speech was invented by Greeks...................FYI....................

I do not know what you are talking about, but KevinKohler did this post:

Notice the part that I bolded and then made red. KevinKohler implied that Martin Luther left the Catholic Church because it was too conservative; I pointed out that if anything Martin Luther was more conservative and accepted scripture as the basis of Christianity not Tradition or Papal assemblies or what not.

And based on what interpretation? He rejected tradition to start his own tradition based on his interpretation. It's not ignoring tradition and going sola scriptura, it's just heresy.

Phattonez... Don't mean to be rude, but do you believe in God?

LOL... all the way back to the (linear) alphabet.

It's amazing what the Greek people did with the invention of the alphabet..................I would say it is 250,000 years beyond "cuneiform", it's closest relative...................

Yeah, and it's a good thing linear A, B, leading Hellenic alphabet to win, or we would go blind looking at little scrambled triangles .

See... This is the problem with zealots.

All of a sudden, you and the Pope speak for the creator.

Any person or group that claims to speak for 'God' will never have my support. That is non-negotiable.

Right now, Schrub... That's almost half of the population.

Yeah, that's the way it is right now, but I do believe change is coming.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

We're on the threshold of a greater awakening.............................

There's a rational acceptance for religion, and has been for centuries. It is just that we have reached the point where it can be comfortable for someone to reject its reality.

No, there is no rationality in religion, it's just that we've lived for a long time without the tools to make religious acceptance unnecessary. Today, we've answered many of the questions that religion has feigned an answer for over the centuries, there's no more reason to cling to absurd beliefs because it's more comfortable than admitting that we just have no clue what the actual answers are. It's sad that you have a problem with society coming to a point where rejecting ridiculous beliefs openly becomes safe and socially acceptable. Want to go back to burning heretics?

Heya RM does ya gots a link on this? I never heard this about the Borgias and the Jewish blood. As a matter of fact I know several Borgias that live around here in Illinois. Course moreso around Chicago.

This is definitely affecting the Chicago Catholics. They were kind stunned by the news.

I read it a long time ago, like, 4 or 5 years ago. It explained there how his mother was jewish and came from some jewish family in Spain I think... they were rich traders and money lenders. Which was kind of wierd because not long after that, the show, the Borgias, was announced.

I have to remember the name of the mother because Borgia is not the real name of the Borgias. They were LLanchol or something like that... and on the matrilinial side it is also something else before marriage.

If I ever come across the information again, I'll share it with you.

Thanks RM.....I will try and look some of this up. As I also know some that are Sicilian. Let me know if ya come across her maiden name.

You got to be kidding me Martin Luther eventually broke away from the Catholic Church because it was adding things like the sale indulgences for sins and "holy" artifacts for people in purgatory. Martin Luther was more conservative than the Vatican.

The catholic church had been doing that for centuries prior to Martin luthers birth. In essence, it WAS Catholicism. It's mentioned even in the cantebury tails, and chaucer wrote that over a century before Luther was even born. Luther wanted to CHNGE the church to better suit his ideals, but the church refused to change. If they HAD changed, he never would have hammered his list of grievances to those doors. It was a reluctance to any change that gave birth to a new denomination of Christianity. Further, if you know anything about Lutheranism, you'll know that THEY abandoned all the dogma, the pomp, and focuse more closely on Jesus words, rather than rigid tradition.

Self defeating statement?

If the reasons he stated are all that's behind this step, I have to say that's a very honorable decision! It takes integrity to admit you're no longer suited for an important office and resign voluntarily.

And maybe, Benedict XVI will now enter history books as a revolutionary reformer, because after his precedent, it will be easier for future Popes to ignore tradition and resign, when they feel they're no longer up to the task. ;)

Self defeating statement?

I said we've answered many of the questions, I didn't say we've answered all of them. Just because we don't know doesn't give a theist license to just make crap up because it makes them feel better. That's pathetic.

Say what? Are you aware that many of the most prominent libertarians such as Lew Rockwell, Thomas Woods, Jeffrey Tucker, and Thomas DiLorenzo are all traditional Catholics?

I am sure there are... You run into problems generalizing obviously, but the majority of Catholics now and in the past vote Democrat and have liberal views. Our Vice President is Catholic! John F. Kennedy was Catholic (the only catholic president).

I am really surprised in how people don't know this.

"Today, we've answered many of the questions that religion has feigned an answer for over the centuries" (Enough questions have been answered)

"there's no more reason to cling to absurd beliefs because it's more comfortable than admitting that we just have no clue what the actual answers are" (We actually don't have the answers to those questions)

Thats how I interpreted it.

What questions have been answered, and how do they disprove all religions? At what question(s) does religion become pathetic?

phattonez;1061455750. The disintegration of society starts with the attack on the traditional family and monogamous relationships.[/QUOTE said:
I thought that it started a long time ago when the Catholic Church started burning people at the stake for no good reason.

Would you support bringing that practice back?
