Oh great another pope election. I wonder how many will try the approach of former cardinal rodrigo Borgia?

This is actually pretty interesting and has me wondering "Why?" There's gotta be something. Not like he needs to focus on his family.

True. I thought all popes were supposed to be elected for life, and the only yield the papacy on their death. Popes don't just resign for nothing.

He's not required to die in his position according to Canon Law.

My thoughts exactly. The investigative documentary recently released, Mea Maximus Culpa, has exposed that the pedophilia scandal cover-up leads right to his doorstep and pretty much stops there.

I wonder if this has anything to do with it.

One thing for sure, Pope's have remained in office with one foot in the grave for centuries. I am sure that there is more to this than meets the eye.

I don't know canon law. I just notice that most popes die in office.

We can only assume the reason since we don't know the facts.

Somebody's been watching The Borgias. Relax, real life is not like that. Besides, Borgia was a special case, after all, he was jewish and infiltrated his way into the vatican using jewish support from italy and spain, and not a devout christian.

There is absolutely no evidence supporting that claim.

I'm betting he has some sort of debilitating decease (another poster said maybe Alzheimer) that would keep him from being an effective leader.
