It's really kind of silly because if you lose power, your eggs and milk are garbage.
What? It's a snowstorm. Put the stuff in a cooler and put it outside. When we lived in the Chicago burbs the snowdrifts near the door looked like they were growing beer bottles.

So do you think anybody up there learned anything from the hurricane or will they be sitting around hungry and cold waiting for FEMA again?

Hope everyone makes it through this safely.

My Bro-in-law who grew up in Michigan told me snow is really fun until it doesn't stop, shuts down the roads, kills your power ( ice I guess ) and makes you a prisoner in your own home.

After its cleared ( piled up by the city or state ) in parking lots it turns into a mushy brown muck.
snow is great when i don't have to commute over it. that doesn't happen very often, though.

usually, it involves sitting at work, watching the radar, waiting for 4 pm, and hoping that my 40 minute commute doesn't become two hours of white knuckle excitement, or worse.

    i hate commuting.

That would only be a problem if the door was on your second floor.

i think i'd consider it a problem, but one with a solution. i'm pretty good with a shovel after many Midwest winters. however, i'd still prefer not to see that. hope that the homeowner is able to dig out.

shoveling snow burns 430+ calories in an hour. when i wake up and see significant snow, i know that means it's cheeseburger time.

I didn't have to do that thankfully.

What makes you think I would know?

Heck, we were prepared enough, as a truck driver, I have a lot of things that can either run on batteries, or charge by plugging them into the the car, including a TV, so, as long as you can stay warm, and prepare meals, we used to use the time to get a little family time, playing cards, and games, and such....
Yes, it is the perfect time for these kinds of things. While everyone else is running around like a bunch of crazies at the end of the world.. you can be starting a camp fire, roastimg mellows with the kids and telling stories. I know growing up, the most memorable times in my childhood was playing card and board games as a family. These kind of things seem to not happen as much anymore because of the internet and video games.

    - Idealistically, everything should work as you planed it to. Realistically, it depends on how idealistic you are as to the measure of success.
