Well What do you know.....looks like Obama has to make a move and go to Israel. Now I wonder why he is all of a Sudden changing up his routine to make a Spring Visit. Think it has to do with Bidens Remarks on Iran? Seems the Israelis sent one here after Netanyahu was re-elected and after Israel hit those targets in side Syria. Now Iran has made a statement and told Israel they will regret this action they have taken.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama will go to Israel in the spring, the White House said Tuesday, marking his first visit to the staunch U.S. ally since becoming president. While in the region, Obama will make stops by the West Bank and Jordan.

Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the visit to Israel in late January, when Obama congratulated Netanyahu on his success in Israel's recent election. The White House has not released the date of Obama's trip or details about Obama's itinerary, but Israel's Channel 10 reported that the trip had been scheduled for March 20.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Obama would work closely with Palestinian Authority and Jordanian officials on regional issues during his visit to Jordan and the West Bank.....snip~

Naturally the Palestinians and Any Sunni and Shia Arabs welcome this visit by Obama. I think Obama knows the Israelis will not wait for the US over the Issue with Iran. Hence this all out push to try and Bolster Obama's Credibility in the ME. Since his Policy has been a complete and utter failure.

How is his policy any different from lets say the past 3 presidents?

What does that have to do with Obama going there for the First time? Does the piece talk about the last 3 Presidents? Course there has been a change in policy including with the last 3 Presidents.....Correct?

Your the one that brought it up..." his Policy has been a complete and utter failure." How has his policy been any different cuz if the policy has been the same dont know if you consider the last three presidents policy in the middle east "a complete failure" as well.

Looks by my statement that I was stating there are differences.....huh? Can you say Bush and Clinton had as many engagements? How about as much trouble with Russia as we have today?

Also why would you think the Media thinks it is relevant? Especially after Netanyahu was re-relected.....sent an envoy to Washington. Then hit targets inside Syria and then sent another envoy to Washington. Wouldn't you think there is some relevancy to this visit.

So you cant answer the question on how his policy has failed or been relevant.

Yes there is relevancy, never said there was none. Iran talks happening soon, Israel bombing Syria, Syria destabilized.

"]I just answered your question with the point of the engagements as well as Russian Policy. Which would you prefer to look at? Monetary with his 5.5 Trillion dollars and 78 % increase. Or Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Syria. From Africa to the ME? Or would you go want to go with the UN Security Council and their problems with Rice. As well as many in the UN Human Rights Watch Groups? Another would be conducting drone strikes in Countries we are not at war with.

Maybe he's going there because NK and Iran are on the cusp of nuclear weapons and Israel is our only ally in the region and has a ferocious military to back it up.

Obviously, I'm just guessing since no dispatches from the WH have been delivered to me this evening.

Its really hard to believe that Obama has been in office for over 4 yers and has never visited our strongest ally in the mid east but has no problem visiting the Muslim countries.

Well I can see him talking about Iran.. Do you think the Palestinians and the Jordanians will be that much concerned about NK?

Obama to waste little time in renewing full-court-press on Israel.....

Today came news that (1) John Kerry made lengthy phone calls to Israeli and Palestinian leaders even before starting work at the State Department on Monday and (2) President Obama will visit Israel in March or April. No one should doubt that, as in Obama’s first term, brow-beating Israel into making concessions to the Palestinians will form the core of the Obama-Kerry outreach. As Groucho Marx said, in Horse Feathers, when explaining why he was offering a pep talk to the opposing team, “my team won’t listen to me.” The Palestinians don’t listen to Obama; Israel must, to some degree.

So much hackery in so few words. First, Kerry fails to explain why he believes a door or window is open, given the other futility of the “peace process” during Obama’s first term. Second, he fails to explain why it would close if not entered right now. Third, he fails to explain why the negation of a two-state solution would be disastrous.

Presumably, Israel understands that Kerry — who not long ago believed the “way forward” to a two-state solution consisted of enlisting Bashar al-Assad — is a fool. And presumably, Israel understands that President Obama — having, in his latest affront, nominated the anti-Israel Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense — is its adversary.

Certainly, Obama has made it clear that Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s popular Prime Minister, is his adversary. As the Times of Israel recounts:

According to Bloomberg columnist Jeffrey Goldberg, Obama had lately begun repeating the mantra that Israel under Netanyahu “doesn’t know what its own best interests are.” Goldberg added that, as regards Netanyahu’s handling of the Palestinians, “the president seems to view the prime minister as a political coward, an essentially unchallenged leader who nevertheless is unwilling to lead or spend political capital to advance the cause of compromise.”

If he really believes that Netanyahu is a hopeless coward and a fool, the logical move for Obama would be to stop beating his head against that wall. But the combination of leftist ideology and personal pride has drawn Obama back into the fray. So Netanyahu will once against have to weather the storm of a president who despises him and has little use for his State.....snip~

So much for those on the left thinking Obama's visit to Israel is a whole lot of Rosie.....huh?

In a way, sort of. Iran and NK seem to be helping each other with construction of nukes. Both countries are working hard on delivery systems and both have tested missiles recently.

Obviously, Iran the country is more on the minds of the ME countries but there certainly are links.

SK is totally a US ally and they are the ones most threatened by NK. Israel is a less reliable ally and more independent than SK.

Really, I was just trying to answer the OP. Obama was unfriendly to Israel last term. Since he's already re-elected, he has no reason to suck up to Israel for brownie points. So, I think he's there for serious discussion of a potentially terrible situation. One Iran has their bombs, we'll have to make a tough decision and Israel will be very much affected.

Well I can see him talking about Iran.. Do you think the Palestinians and the Jordanians will be that much concerned about NK?

I don't see it as anything more than what has become normal for US Presidents - that being, in a second term Presidents tend to look outwardly towards foreign policy issues as they try to mold a legacy. Besides, the more time Obama spends outside your country, outside the Western Hemisphere, is pretty good in my books.

No matter what Obama does in the ME it will be a complete and utter failure.

It's not Obama that is failing though.

I'm kind of surprised to learn this is his first trip to Israel in 4 years. Then again, Bush2 only went twice (from what I can find), and at the very end of his 2nd term, at that.
