Reports: Ex-SEAL/author fatally shot on gun range

Just damn, Kyle deserved better than this. If guilty, I hope the US Authorities throw the book at the arrested man.

My bet is that the shooter, the arrested man, does not give a damn if they throw the book at him. Most likely, he doesn't give a damn if they execute him.

Regardless of the motive behind his death, Chris Kyle was a self-serving, cocky bastard who had contempt for people who had balls he could only dream of having -- i.e., the Iraqi resistance fighters who were relying on small arms and whatever explosives they could scrounge up to take on the most powerful military in the world. He was also a liar, as the Jesse Ventura case shows.

You stay classy Graffias. Way to trounce on a guys grave:thumbdown

Do they mention that almost 80% of the victims are Black?

Just as Black babies are more likely to be aborted so it is with Black on Black crime victims. This is something that should be talked about openly, rather than just mentioning the murder rates alone.
That would be racist Grant. Come on.

I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. When I read this post, I'd just gotten off the phone with my kid and had said about Kyle, "Now, there was a real man."

Kyle died trying to help somebody else. His was a life of service, and he clearly understood what Sherman said about war being hell. No, I've never seen combat myself...but at least I know enough and am grateful enough for the service of others not to embarrass myself.

I agree, however, imo, it's not the best use of judgement to take an ex-military guy who is suffering from PTSD to the shooting range for "therapy". PTSD can alter your sense of reality, and your perceptions. I think Kyle was a wonderful man and extremely skilled, and I have nothing but admiration for his military career. I just think he used poor judgement in this case, if what I've been hearing about the incident is true.

I also agree, my initial reaction was of anger that a military hero met an early and ignoble death. Kyle had so much more to offer in his life.

My deepest condolences to his wife and two children. RIP

yeah, but how the hell did they get shot at a shooting range? Aren't the people there armed, and have we not been told by the NRA that armed people in places with lots of guns would never be purposefully shot because criminals only shoot unarmed people? I do not understand how something like this could happen unless the NRA and the gun nuts completely lied to us about the ability of trained people with guns to make sure they don't become victims of gun violence.

This act is by a stressed out suicidal veteran of the Iraq & Afghan wars. A crazy man, if you will, who shot them with a pistol.

You must look at the big picture. Life is not nearly as neat and ordered as you might like it to be.

Surely an example of the old biblical line: Live by the sword, die by the sword. :peace

Your hyperbole aside, the ex-marine who did the shooting was not a criminal prior to this. He had PTSD, which imo, probably faciliated his "snap" away from reality.

Plagiarizing Ron Paul's twitter account is just as disgusting, and insulting to our troops as reading it the second time around...:peace

Treating PTSD at a gun range:doh

Tragic event, but the man had PTSD. The two men killed knew he had PTSD. What can they throw at him?

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Umad?

I am.

This could have easily been prevented.

Yeah, I'm still sticking with my initial impression that this is one of the worst ideas imaginable. I would be willing to grant some leeway if the guy was a mental healthcare professional, but ...

Yeah, if the guy had some type of episode, you can hardly fault him for what happened, especially when others knowing put in in such an explosive situation

With all due respect to Ron Paul and to the original source of the platitude, I don't even have a Twitter account. Don't read it.

All due condolences to Kyle, and his family....

With that said, is this the tactic now? Gun rights under fire so every single gun incident makes national news to drive the agenda to ban guns? Think about it people, the MSM is trying to shape opinion rather than reporting the news objectively.

He's the most lethal sniper in American history and has a best selling book. Of course it's national news.
