As I have demonstrated mathematically, you are incorrect in your assumptions. The server's tip was not included in the amount which was authorized by the pastor. Just because you STATE something incorrect does not mean that the thing occurred. It just means you said something incorrect.

Do you think the pastor was a jerk? YEP absolutely
Do you think the waitress should have been fired. Tough call, depends on the employee handbook, i wouldnt have fired her but at the same time not sure i can point to anything saying she shouldnt have been fired.

I would have suspended her and thats it.
Where is HIPAA for restaurants? Oh right, there isn't any. He was a jerk, and she should NOT have been fired. My children worked in restaurants while they were in college, and I NEVER fail to leave a nice tip, usually no less than 20%. It is a difficult job both physically and mentally. And it really requires skill to get your ducks in a row to get the orders in then out, and get back and check on the table very 3,5,7 minutes particularly in a rush time. Pastor. LMAO. What kind of example is he for his congregation!

She posted someone else's personal information online without their knowledge or consent.

    That's illegal.

She's lucky all she is facing is getting canned, and not formal charges.

And for the record, having waited tables for years, I have found that, ESPECIALLY in the south (baptists), religious leaders, and religious folks in general...are the among the most rude, worst tipping groups you can get...

Re: Applebee’s fires waitress who posted receipt from pastor complaining about auto-t

Was the receipt even hers to post to begin with? Even disregarding the customer's privacy... which is important to me, but not the point I'm making... it seems the receipt was confidential company property, and this is essentially the same as stealing and/or compromising internal company financial documents.

Note: This does not excuse the customer's action.

    what personal information?
theres no legal action here for the info she posted

now if she posted her printed full name, address, credit card number etc etc then maybe

but a picture of a scribbled name that wouldnt even be readable(first name) had the news article not told us who it is, which they can also do without permission is not any violation of privacy.

She told the entire world where said person was at said time, what they were doing, and how much they spent. You want I should do the same thing to you, sometime? Sure, THIS time, it seems innocent enough. But you do understand why this sort of thing can't be allowed, right?

Also, credit receipts are the property of the restaurant, not the folks that work there.

No, it isn't. Much of the personal information that exists about us is actually considered part of the public record. Our name, address, occupation... all public record information. The only thing that could potentially lead to legal action would be if she posted the full credit card number, but since the receipt blocked out most of it, as they do nowadays, it wouldn't lead to legal action.

There's a weak case for civil action, but there were no laws broken.

So you wouldn't mind me following you around, posting exactly where you are, what you're doing, etc, for a day or two? This kind of action would not concern you at all?

And what exactly would those 'formal' charges be. Do tell. LMAO

Do post the link to the restaurant HIPAA laws. Inquiring minds want to know.
