The President is giving up his Jobs Council after it met only four times since 2011, the most recent of which was almost a year ago, according to CNN today.

In 2009, 2010, and 2011, he stated he was focused like a laser on job creation. Where are those jobs?
With nearly 50 million people on food stamps, and poverty increasing, why disband the Jobs Council, and why haven't they met?

Obama does not want folks happy, he wants as many as possible dependent on the gov't, the more he can say "crisis" or "emergency" the easier it is have the congress critters to borrow and spend without that "pay as you go" nonsense. Those job council guys did not like Obama's PPACA mandates, goofy EPA regulations and union backing nonsense anyway.

Obama is now "laser focused" on making the repubicants look bad, so he will put forth as much loony lefty stuff as possible, forcing the repubicants to say stupid stuff. The republicants should simply shut up and let the demorats hang themselves by attempting to pass the Obama nonsense in the Senate since 1/3 of those seats are up for election next year.

The republicants are tripping all over themselves trying be "bipartisan" on immigration reform (amnesty) while stupidly thinking that the hispanic voters will switch over to them if they play nice. As usual the amnesty (called guest worker permits or path to citizenship) will be right now and any border security additions and "absolute" workplace enforcement for hiring only "legal" workers will be "phased in" (i.e. will never actually happen).

Do you suppose his laser focus missed the mark? Or maybe he was talking about creating regulator jobs in his administration; he's done a pretty good job of that...

This is an easy one. The man won reelection. He doesn't have to pretend to care anymore.

Good evening Lady P - hope all is well - and congrats on posting your first thread - I'm impressed - I haven't figured that part out yet.

As for the jobs council, the only job the current occupant of the White House is interested in is his own - once he received a four year renewal on his contract, his laser beam burned out.

Exactly dude. What the GOP hasn't figured out is that the Dems are not going to meet in the middle and have never had any intentions of doing so. They will continue to watch the GOP fight amongst themselves with the few in their ranks that see this on one side and the moderates that want to follow the Dems down the rabbit hole on the other. IMO, the GOP should stick to how far right they are, maybe go further right, and wait on this whole thing to blow up in the Dems face. It's obvious it's going to by our latest economic shrinking and lack of meaningful job growth.

EDIT: By far right, I'm talking fiscally. The whole anti gay marriage and stupid abortion comments have gotta stop. They should stay pro-life, but get away from the bait questions about rape/incest/etc. That stuff's stupid.

That's OK, he is about to take care of that by eliminating those tax cuts for the rich; the very same tax cuts that were supposed to create jobs but didn't. ;)

More bad news: The extremely wealthy don't punch a time clock down at the FixADent Bodyshop. Their wealth is in assets that are not possible to tax unless transferred or sold, so don't spend all that Obama money yet. That is why you just saw your paycheck go down, everybody has to pay more.

Obama left that little detail out of his election campaign speeches.

And the same weak ass, nonsensical bull**** Republican Talking point gets trotted out for the umteen billionth time.

This is not a big deal since the MSNBC gang is certain Obama's got jobs and the economy under control...

That's fine, Ray. But do you actually believe that those tax cuts made jobs? I mean look at the economy even during the Bush years; it sucked. :thumbdown

Hi Polgara. Where's Belgarath and Belgarion, busy keeping the Arends from being too-Arendish-to-live?

Excellent Bubba. You get a like from me!

They are too busy counting the money they made from working hard all year!
Their only relaxation comes once a year at the huge Arendish Fair, which was held last September. I understand a lot of horse-trading took place :)

Note to RLN: Apologies accepted. :)

You must be misconstrued, I didn't offer any. :2wave:

Knowing that you would likely be inundated, I was trying to stay ahead of the masses!

Agreed, and this column from the WSJ offers some insight to the rationale behind the Dem thinking:

Back in 1965, when American politics watched the emergence of the New Left movement—rebranded today as "progressives"—a famous movement philosopher said the political left should be "liberated" from tolerating the opinions of the opposition:"Liberating tolerance would mean intolerance against movements from the Right and toleration of movements from the Left."

That efficient strategy was the work of Herbert Marcuse, the political theorist whose ideas are generally credited with creating the basis for campus speech codes. Marcuse said, "Certain things cannot be said, certain ideas cannot be expressed, certain policies cannot be proposed." Marcuse created political correctness.

But let's talk about Marcuse in the here and now. He also proposed the withdrawal of toleration "from groups and movements . . . which oppose the extension of public services, social security, medical care, etc."

Can you see this tactic at work even on this forum, attempting to delegitimize opposing viewpoints?

The jobs council wasn't useful because the GOP wont implement anything they recommend. (because the GOP doesn't want job creation under Obama)

I'm only liking this because he said "Boosh"

Then I probably shouldn't mention that would have been Arianna who said "Boosh"... but no taking back the "Like".
