Morsi aide: Holocaust an American fabrication

A fabrication? So is Ikwhan's idea of Sharia... Seems the Brothers need to stop off at Al-Azhar and do a little brushing up on their fiqh... They seem short on Ulema and long on Jahiliyya...

I'm fairly certain I remember Morsi being quoted as saying he believed 9/11 was a CIA plot. To be honest I don't think it means that much - outrageous anti-western beliefs bordering on conspiracy theory like this are surprisingly common in many Muslim countries.

I actually spent a night telling Saudi military men that the canard about the Jews being warned not to come to work on 9/11 was at the very least a misstatement or a misinterpretation that got turned into a conspiracy theory once some Middle Eastern cleric got hold of it. The cleric's video was all over the Internet, and of course, the whole theory had a Wikipedia page dedicated to it and explaining how it was a stupid conspiracy theory with absolutely no backing, as there were many Jews listed among the dead in those buildings.

Then after that we ate and got drunk. I like that part better.

They are descended from apes. They really shouldn't take it personally though, that just means they're humans.

So lets see. In 2003, Bush said that the Iraq War would lead to democracy blossoming in the Middle East. Now it is, and Cons are in panic mode. Sounds about right.

I would take offense to both, as the meaning is supposed to be "less than" and "filthy."

I agree, we should let them say what ever jaw droppingly stupid thing they wish, and report on every word of it. Then when it shocks the world put it on continuous loop along side of Obama, and leading demo's praising the Arab spring, and exclaiming to congress how the Muslim Brotherhood is a moderate, peaceful group.

Not sure what the alternatives are. Mubarak was pretty much done for at that time.

Do you think we should have invaded or something?

it's a pretty well documented phenomenon, even with a few collage courses focusing on the subject

I just find it rather wrong that the same people who vehemently said we had to depose Saddam are upset over Mubarak and Gaddafi, who at best were only slightly less odious than Saddam.

Democracy in that region was sure to include people that we don't particularly care for. Especially in Egypt where Mubarak had to use all of his power just to repress the Muslim Brotherhood.

Absolutely. It became more cemented after hearing an extended conversation about the inner character (or from their perspective, lack of it) of those who were Jewish. The irony was that I was doing this for a university education course on multicultural education. It was western indifference to other culture's explicit ethnocentrism. :p

The Arab Spring was about Democracy...you know that thing Conservatives claim is our mission to bring to the middle east?

Morsi is Egypts Democratically elected leader. Until that changes (he subverts elections) he has the same legitimacy as any other Democratically elected President despite whatever he says.

kind of amazing this needed to be explained ...

With Saudi military?? That couldn't have been in their homeland, could it?

Yes. He didnt fire the ****ing idiot.
Just because someone says something idiotic does not mean you have to fire them. And just because you didnt fire them doesnt mean you endorse the comments.

Hes either stupid, incompetent, or ignorant of PR. None of which belong in a position of leadership associated with the current leader of any country. You dont fire him for the statement, you fire him because he was stupid enough to say it and mean it---embarassing his boss. As an aid, your primary job is to make your boss look good. This didnt quite make it.
Egypt and US political cultures... WAY DIFFERENT.

Let's be realistic here. Morsi likely holds many of the same ideas, he's just aware enough to not state them publicly.

Does a North Dakotan like hot weather? :p No, they were here, studying.

Do you have any proof that Morsi endorses these claims?

I would be amazed if he didn't: We're talking about an Egyptian member of the Muslim brotherhood. And while the guy isn't some raging salafist, people of that particular political background aren't exactly known as fonts of enlightened thinking

I do not extend the benefit of the doubt to a man who says the Jews "descended from apes and pigs."

There is no defense for blind hatred. Not in the 21st century.

and parts of the GOP in the US..

Republican congressional candidate denie... JPost - International

Not to mention the white pride groups, neo nazi groups, KKK and other similar racist groups.

There are idiots all over the place.

Oh, you mean the idiot that lost to the demo in that district? And should have....You wouldn't be trying to broad brush paint the entire GOP as racist neo Nazi's because one guy, in one demo safe district ran and never had a chance would you? Nah....
