I suspect it's just that the job took a lot of energy so he's ready to take a break rather than it being political differences. I do wonder if not having at least one Republican in the cabinet might affect the administration.

You know the difference between a Chicago Democrat and a Chicago Republican?
Who they want to steal money from.

Trust me there arent a lot of differences between LaHood and Obama.

As someone who is from Chicago, I can't disagree with you there, haha.

This is the only name I have seen as a possible replacement, so far:

"Among those who have been prominently mentioned as a possible successor is Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, whose mayoral term ends June 30 and who played a key role in writing a provision of last year's federal transportation bill that is designed to speed up projects throughout the country, including in Los Angeles.

The White House did not immediately comment on possible replacements."

Replacing a crooked former legislator with a race card playing mayor doesnt seem like an improvement to me.

Thanks for the far right perspective!

Ok. You want to be contentious? I can do that.

I can criticize people of my own party. LaHood was involved in a bunch of corruption investogations and has NO place in government any longer.

The mayor of LA and failed Governor candidate of California has engaged in repeated race baiting and has been divisive on race issues for a while now.

Your comment was unneeded, unwanted, and unwarranted. Im sorry you handle opposing viewpoints to your crappy leftwing worldview so badly that you have to make inane comments because a right wing person dared to voice their opinion. Now head your happy butt on over to DU where they will echo chamber the viewpoint you want to hear.

Antonio Villaraigosa may have a place in Obama’s cabinet

"Names such as Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa rumored to possibly be on the list for a higher appointment was also listed. Analysts believe because of his experience with labor, his influence with Mayors and charisma, it’s not unlikely to suggest he could fit as a Secretary of Transportation, if it becomes vacant, or Secretary of Labor."
