Not sure what you're saying here.
Were the children there to appreciate or curious if the Retirement Home had closed?

The stalwart 'appreciators' (those who attended the 'gun' appreciation day are appreciators and not protesters though their words were sure sounded like a protest not appreciation) are on average over 50 and thus eligible for AARP membership. Old enough to vote is to set the parameters on those who are old enough to vote in an election/referendum on the subject at hand.

But you seem to be quite savvy on the crowd makeup... what would you say is the age break down? how many under 12, between 12 and 18? 18 and 21? 21 and 30? 30 and 50? over 50?

Depends on your pov. Standing up for gun rights is a damn good way to show appreciation on gun appreciation day.

And really, you should drop the AARP mantra. Who cares how old they are? I responded to your post because you said that you always see these rally's and no one is ever younger than you in them.

Beats me, I watched the video before I even saw your post so I wasn't exactly paying that close attention to all the different people. If it concerns you that much then perhaps you should watch the video again. I just happened to remember the kids is all.

What's all this age crap? Is there some age in America where you give up your rights?

Are you telling us that after the crapload of bitching because Obama brought kids who had wrote him letters about making them safer when he signed his EOs the tea party terrorists forced their children to go to a gun rally and hold signs? That would mean the protestors used their children who cannot make decisions on their own to shamelessly support their parents cause by threat of their parents. It also means that out of the crappy turnout the numbers were boosted by people forced to be there sort of like Mittens liked to do.

At least the kids Obama used were voluntarily there and agreed with the letters they actually wrote and not5 forced to go to some geezer rally on their long weekend by their crazy parents.

being forced by your parents to go to a rally on your day off is not what i would call appreciation for guns. probably appreciation of not having to be locked in a closet to live off rat droppings wit6h your parents holding a shotgun and guarding you to make sure you don't escape on them.

Yeah really, do you think the AARP wants to be associated with such abusive and manipulative geezers?

i think it would be that age where the insurance company decides you are too costly to fix so they deny all your claims. Or maybe it is that age where you are only worth a vote to republicans, and keeping you alive is too expensive despite the fact you pretty much built this country and paid into social security all your life and now want to use those benefits which the reps want to use to pay for more male interns to screw in the bathroom. Why don't you tell us what age the elderly become pointless considering republicans love tossing grandma into the gutter.

The age crap shows the vast majority of these few 'appreciators' are angry old men, not mainstream firearm owner/users like I met when I routinely shot the Sac range.

This was a tiny niche group out of a possible 177,233 citizens of Redding county.

you continue to beat your dead horse... I NEVER said a damn thing about anyone giving up rights, why you insist on turning any thread I post in to that old saw is more telling or your bias than anything about the subject at hand.

What I said was it would be nice if the Tea Party in it's attempt to coop the current firearms debate could present a more mainstream cross section and concentrate on the issue at hand, leaving the tyranny crap for some other time. We need 'gun' owners who don't sound like the old folks home militia.

This statement is beyond ridiculous. Do you really think a gunman that is hell bent on killing people is going to say to himself "Gee, I better not load my gun up with anything more than 7 bullets because that would be illegal"?

These new laws will NOT prevent more shootings and only punishes LAW ABIDING citizens because the criminals don't care about these new laws.

Hey, try reading for comprehension please....It isn't the conservatives on this board mocking the protesters for their age, weight, or anything else, that is coming from you dear.

Re: Redding California Tea Party right to bear arms Second Amendment Rally

What I find funny is all the people that scream and protest so much about Obama and gun laws. A president can not make laws only Congress can make laws. It's Congress that you should be concerned about. They're the ones that spend the money and make laws. But the Dems are off having a party and the Reps are on a winter retreat trying to figure out how they can win more elections. Neither side are concerned about the country's problems.
I confess, I did it, I let the dogs out.
