You missed my point; even if you clear the weapon, you still assume that it's loaded and handle as if it's loaded. Such conduct should be as automatic as breathing. I repeat my dad's axiom: there's no sych thing as an unloaded gun.

These homes were not necessarily "unsafe". The point is accidents happen and a world of regulations won't prevent them from happening. In fact that's why they are called 'accidents'.

Re: Private sales at gun show on hold after three hurt in accidental shooting

I've been going to gunshows for over 30 years. In that time, I witnessed one accidental discharge - it was a sheriff deputy who shot himself in the foot with his own gun.

I have rented tables at shows and gone to 100's of shows over the years. The rules are always the same. All guns are checked at the entry door to verify they are unloaded by a police officer. All guns are strapped with zipties so they are made to be unable to function by the police officer. Anyone found with a loaded gun is escorted out of the show and arrested. Any person with a rented table found with a gun loaded or not ziptied is escorted out of the show and barred from ever renting a table again.

Regardless, every gun should always be treated as if it were loaded.

That is the only way to have a gun show. Am surprized they aren't all ran that way.

another show they rope every gun coming in-you know put a piece of rope through the muzzle and out the action
The gun shows you go to don't require a bright plastic/metal chamber blockers in all firearms?

    Seriously?

"preventing accidents from happening" is a straw man

The issue is reducing the # of "accidents"

no they don't that is a good idea for weapons the public are bringing in. I know at one of the ranges I shoot at (the other the targets come back to the shooters so there is no need for cease fires) when there is a cease fire there needs to be a flag in the chamber or a piece of rope through the action so the RO can see all weapons are safe
