NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has been indicted on 21 federal corruption charges including wire fraud, bribery and money laundering.

The charges are the outgrowth of a City Hall corruption investigation that already has resulted in guilty pleas by two former city officials and two businessmen.

The counts include wire fraud, bribery, money laundering, filing false tax returns and conspiracy.

Nagin, a former cable television executive, was a political novice before being elected to his first term as mayor in 2002, buoyed by strong support from white voters. Hurricane Katrina in 2005 elevated Nagin to the national stage, where he gained a reputation for colorful and sometimes cringe-inducing rhetoric.

During a radio interview broadcast in the storm's early aftermath, he angrily pleaded with federal officials to "get every doggone Greyhound bus line in the country and get their asses moving to New Orleans."

In January 2006, he apologized for a Martin Luther King Day speech in which he predicted New Orleans would be a "chocolate city" and asserted that "God was mad at America."

This is what I hate. Black men who succumb to the value system they grew up with.

I'm not accepting your premise (that crime results primarily from upbringing and race allows us to guess his), but I still have a question even allowing the premise to stand: It doesn't bother you when whites (presumably) do the same?

Would it be racist to note the large number of minority mayors that are charged with corruption? Or to note that their adoring constituents vote for them anyway.

Beat me too it.

Only if they're Democrats. Otherwise, fire away.

Compared to how many white mayors etc?

That's true, but does not make the initial statement any less racist when you look at the number of other races (white) mayors. Of course I could always say...

"This is what I hate. white men who succumb to the value system they grew up with." in relation to corrupt American congressmen, senators, judges, presidents etc...

I think that works just fine. We can presume that whites are brought up in households where holding down the man by any means is the value system. Seems fair.

I agree with the racist part. I seem to remember a lot of dumb ass white people who supported Blaggo right until the bitter end, too. Hell, It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he is elected to some kind of office after he get's out of prison. So, yeah, I agree that "stupid" crosses racial lines equally.

What negative racial characteristics have become stereotypes in our culture re: Whites?

What negative racial characteristics have become stereotypes in our culture re: Whites?

Greedy, self-serving, dishonest, racist, ignorant in privilege, shallow, fat, wimpy, small dick...

Beat me too it.

It should be, "Beat me to it."

Too is ONLY used when you want to say...

Too = excessive (I ate too much greasy food and now I need an antacid tablet.)

Too = also (You went to the Patriots game last weekend? I was there, too.)

Do you actually know if minority elected officials get indicted on corruption charges at a greater percentage than white elected officials.

Frankly, none of them comes close to being both a CHARACTER TRAIT...something that the person has some possibility of controlling and a 'defining' negative racial characteristic.

NOLA, and pretty much all of Louisiana, is just as famous for their political corruption as Chicago.

NOLA cops are just as corrupt as Chicago cops too.

Is anyone really surprised?

People cannot control greed, self-centeredness, honesty, racism, ignorance, superficiality, being fat or being wimpy?

Ok, small dick, I guess that's not specifically a character trait, but if we consider all of the problems that go along with it... then it does kinda become something that white people have some possibiliy of controlling - that being not needing to buy big trucks, or overcompensate by being a snob and stuff like that. They can control that part of it.

It was just a typo. :doh

Jesus, it's the internet, only grammar Nazi's give a ****.

I didn't want to completely nail your post to the wall or else I'd have said, character trait, negative racial characteristic that is exclusive to Whites and really badly regarded by the general public.

Now it's a negative racial characteristic? Yes you are a racist.

What negative racial characteristics have become stereotypes in our culture re: Whites?

White trash, and the culture of corruption that goes with state-wide politics in, say, West Virginia.

Yeah, there's one problem with that intellectually deficient power belch: it nails your argument to the wall, which is what I was doing, and QEDs your BS into the crapper.

Your inattention to small things like this helps contribute to the Left's perception that White Conservatives are all/mostly ill-educated red necks.

You wanting to think no one cares about spelling reminds me of a guy with a raggedy toupè who thinks no one can tell it's not his real hair.

He's only fooling himself.

And the most appropriate response might be to thank me and move on.

I'll try to make what just happened simple:

I held the nail and marsden swung his hammer. But he didn't realize that my argument was with his. He still might not. We'll see.

Oh, so you SUPPORT the tendency of Blacks to subscribe to negative social values?

Otherwise, why are you arguing FOR its' perpetuation?

You aren't the one who gets stopped by the Police for 'driving while Black.'

And your treatment of a simple typo is not only against the rules but helping reaffirm that your assumptions are dead wrong.

I am not white.

He's only fooling himself.

No one cares, if they do they have issues far beyond those of an internet chat room.

And the most appropriate response might be to thank me and move on.

Or to call you an arrogant ass and move along.
