Dozens held after Islamists attack Algerian gas field!!!![W:280]

So when you spouted off about using Predators, and we are talking about Mali, and Algeria, you were just deflecting the point...Got it...And you can try and call the CIA if you wish, but my guess is that they won't save you from your obtuse statements either.

What deflection? And what point does that deflect? I was just saying I think Predators would be useful in the region. Are you saying you do NOT want to help out in Mali with Predators?

That is just about the dumbest thing I think I have ever read in here....Can I use it as my sig?

Really? So you know for a fact they aren't being used? You called up the CIA and they confirmed this? If the CIA were already flying Predators over Mali, I can practically guarantee you they won't advertise it. Do you honestly believe the CIA tells everybody everywhere exactly everything they're doing? They could already be operating over Mali and we wouldn't know it, exactly as it should be. How in hell do you get off thinking Operational Security is the "dumbest thing" ever?

Are you an adviser to the Algerian government?

If the answer is no then by your own equation, what you think is irrelevant.

Oh good grief...This isn't about me....Now go away.

You disagreed with him. Therefore anything you say is the dumbest thing ever.

What's funny is I only partially disagreed with him, yet he lashes out with a full frontal assault. Reading: it's fundamental.

A true Conservative has no need for reading, facts, or basic understanding of history. Anybody who does is either a Libbo or a RINO.

You're right, they aren't deflections. They are out and out fallacies.

Do you not negotiate with terrorists to free their American prisoners..

No. That is not, and has never been the position of the American government....Until maybe now that is.

British SAS, US Seal Team 6, German Spec Forces, Israeli Spec Forces all would have handled it better. Sending in helicopter gunships against a convoy was not a smart move. Not precise enough when hostages are mixed in with terrorists.

On the other hand, at least the Algerians made a move. They had to move faster than anyone would want to because the facilities had been set afire. The whole facility was getting ready to blow up. They had little time to plan carefully, they just had move right away. On top of it, we don't know how many hostages the terrorists executed as the last attack began. The best counter terrorist unit in the world can't do anything about it if terrorists outright kill the hostages before they can be rescued.

The Algerians didn't give a damn about the hostages - they simply wanted to kill the terrorists. Any time you have a 'hostage rescue' where more hostages die than bad guys, you've got a master cluster.....

They could have recruited experts on this from the West - people experienced in this sort of stuff - but they chose the always effective full frontal assault. Great for eventually killing the hostage takers. Not so great if you actually give a damn about the hostages.

While I am sure randomly yelling accusations at people has it, s place in the world, it doesn't make for the most convincing argument.

He took the Algerian army approach.

How does this statement from you square with Eagle's statement here:

On the fourth day, yeah they ran out of time. They had to act, and I give them credit for being decisive when they had to be.

But this drama played out over 4 days. They should have called in the US/Britain in on the first or second day. This would've pulled in the best hostage rescuers you can get. I think some hostages still would've died (terrorists might still have executed the hostages), but there would have been far fewer losses. I'm trying to be fair to the Algerian Special Forces. They could've handled things better. At the same time, they deserve credit for acting quickly when things spiraled out of control when the facility was set afire.

Oh, I didn't know that by not labeling every muslim on the planet a radical terrorist, that I'm a leftist. Thanks for the heads up.

Who labelled every Muslim on the planet a radical terrorist?

You're welcome for the heads up.

You and ray, but hey, I'm not trying to talk you out of your beliefs man. You be as hateful as you want to be. We could debate 1,000 years, and you'll still cling to that same antiquated hate rhetoric.
