I don't recall where, but somewhere it was revealed that they spend roughly $200,000/year on those protests which translates into a handsome profit from the civil rights cases it brings in. And I have posted what was asked of me, as you have posted what was asked of me. So I'm not looking any further. Anyone who wants to refute that it is all about the money and not about the religion can make their feeble effort to do so.
I've found some links that show they do in fact fund their protests through the family law practice. Fred Phelps is disbarred, but 11 of his 13 children have law degrees. Most live in the family compound and help fund WBC. Without knowing how much they make vs what they spend protesting it is hard to tell if they are serious or just looking to make money. The second link shows that some members work for the state government, so I don't see how they would benefit from the Phelps family wining cases, at least some of the members seem to be very serious about the views of the church.
