APNewsBreak: Rockefeller won't seek re-election....

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller, who came to West Virginia as a young man from one of the world's richest families to work on antipoverty programs and remained in the state to build a political legacy, announced Friday he will not seek a sixth term.

The 75-year-old Democrat's decision, coming at a time when his popularity in a conservative state had been waning for sparring with the powerful mining industry and supporting President Barack Obama, told The Associated Press ahead of his formal announcement that it was time to retire.

Democrats, who hold a 55-45 edge in the Senate, will be defending 20 seats in next year's election while Republicans have 13 seats on the ballot. Among the vulnerable Senate Democrats are Alaska's Mark Begich, Louisiana's Mary Landrieu and Arkansas' Mark Pryor, all in Republican-leaning states.

Rockefeller's retirement is the first of the 2014 class and comes early in the process, giving Democrats time to find a candidate.....snip~

A lot of politicians are, more than is apparent through TV and print coverage.

Your dance seems familiar? Where I have I seen it before?

Oh right, early 2011 where the opportunities looked even brighter for Team Red. Any word on whether Todd Akin plans to move residency to WV to enter the primary? :D

Well it was a dance that was wide spread among Team Red until reality set in and the wheels feel off the GOP Senate election train over the summer and into the fall of 2012.

It looks better for Team Blue. The GOP majority is smaller, save for the fresh round of Gerrymandering it would be even closer or possibly flipped (and that power ebbs over time as demographics shift). The GOP Caucus has managed to neuter itself, Boehner has realized he is in no position to bargain, so now they have even less ability to leave the impression that they are doing something positive and constructive.

Yes, but this changes nothing as to who really has the Control. Course that's just the 20 Senator Seats which hasn't included a few more over the 2nd. Looks like Team Republican can even take the Senate in 2014. Course after the first few months go by and All know Obama lied about their taxes not going up. I don't think we will have to worry about it so much. Especially after this year and it's less than 2% growth that is expected.

Now you are making the same flappy wing motions as 2011, early 2012 (and for those deep, deep in denial all the way up until Nov 6, some even past that). You can fly, you can fly!!!

Well I will leave you to that, now…
