So...our resident liberals are now more interested in saving jobs?

    What a crock!!

These hypocritical demagogues will stoop to any level of idiocy to advance their big government agenda.

can't join you in the pity party for tax accountants and tax attorneys who would be without work if a simple tax system were to be implemented

Jobs aren't killed. Do you think the people getting paid to do their taxes are unemployed or something?

Besides, regardless of what the government does with the tax code, businesses will still outsource this process, for obvious reasons.

All I was doing is pointing out the fact it would put even more people in the unemployment line and it would increase it quite a bit.

Do you think they will all just magically find new jobs in an economy that we have such a high unemployment rate already?

What? I'm saying that the OP's argument is dumb because the tax industry is an industry, i.e. jobs, by definition not a "job killer".

Unethical? No. They're the free market expression of the consequences of a complicated tax system.

I wouldn't mind them becoming obsolete either.

    It was entirely unethical, imo.

Actually the vast majority of the taxes they file, in my experience (I worked for one of them once), are 1040ez and 1040a in the under $50k crowd.
No deductions other than the standard, EITC and child tax credits.

For federal, it should of been free, the IRS allows a subsidy to those people.
They weren't complicated in the least.

At least we agree on something.

Clearing out a wide path of the clutter that has built up? A cracker idea! Using it as cover for further screwing the deficit and the sliding tax load downward? Not so much.

That is what you are saying. I know you may not like it, but the effect of simplifying the tax code would be to put many people out of work. You have to plan for that.
