Wow, Obama has almost matched that in less than 5 years. For someone who claims they are concerned about the deficits and debt how can anyone support Obama who submitted a 3.77 trillion dollar budget request. We have 312 million Americans which that budget is supposed to help. Reagan's last budget was 994 billion dollars for 242 million Americans. My those additional 70 million Americans are expensive.

As for California, keep kicking the can down the road for someone else to pick it up. Jerry Brown is a typical leftwing politician who lives for today and forgets about tomorrow. The California debt is going to eventually come due and to claim that California's deficit is gone is half truth, it has been kicked down the road by accounting tricks and projections none of which are ever realized.

Yes, there is, and yet we have a sales tax now approaching 10% and an income tax that tops out at 13%, not to mention property taxes. Our neighbor to the north has no sales tax or income tax, the one to the East has a lower sales tax and no income tax.

California used to have a sales tax of 5% and an income tax so low that nothing was withheld from paychecks. We had the best school system in the country, and no deficit.

The golden state has been turning my finger green for some time now.

    Report: California

Apparently Obama and Brown supporters don't understand finances very well nor do they have any concept as to the difference between debt and deficits

CA lost 73,000 small businesses last year. That is 5% in one year.

Have you ever met such a poorly informed group of people in your life that are now Obamabots? They willingly buy anything that they are told which boosts their distorted view of reality. California has a massive debt and businesses fleeing the state yet continues to spend money and the unemployed demand more services.

Just look at the responses on this thread? What has happened to our education system that destroys all sense of objectivity and reality?

It's not just the state. The cities are in the verge of collapse under the defined benefit scam. My home town city manager told me the contribution to PERS next year will be 75% of an officers salary. So if an officer makes $60,000 the city will be paying calpers $45,000 for that officers defined benefit.

Something wrong with that chart. The last federal payment paying off WW ll was during the Reagan administration.

I think it went to Douglas Aircraft for the last C-47 bought in 1945.

Well any ways, most papers carried the story back during the 80's when we paid off the WW ll debt.

Apparently there are a lot of fools out there who entirely fail to understand the difference between deficit and debt. If you've had a deficit for the last five years it's pretty damn likely you're in debt. If you get out of that deficit for one year it's still pretty damn likely you're in debt.

This does not require a degree in economics to work out and also ignores the history of the United States and California which only add weight to that reasoning.
