In case it isnt painfully obvious...lets expose a little tactic frequently employed by the left. When you want to pass something and force some new laws on people you have to create a diversion...a monster...a boogieman that everyone can focus on instead of what you are actually doing. An example...
The Obama administration decides they are going to pass new legislation (thats the key...THEY are the aggressors) which forces the Catholic church to provide contraceptives at all of their organizations and to pay for contraceptive and abortion services. THEY initiate an attack. The Catholic church, republicans (hell...dont let this out but not a few democrats as well) stood up and said "WHOA THERE!!! You cant force a religious organization to do something that is against their beliefs, whether you agree with their beliefs or not!" The administration stands in unison, points their fingers like Donald Sutherland in Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and screams "WAR ON WOMEN!!! WAR ON ABORTION!!! WAR ON CONTRACEPTIVES!!!" and its on. Was there a war on women abortion or contraceptives? **** no. In fact...their poster child, Sandra Fluke even gave testimony in which she stated SHE ALREADY HAD contraceptive coverage AT her Catholic run institution. Facts be damned...they made the claim and their sheep repeated their lies.
Fast forward.
Democrats sit silently while inner city violence claims thousands of lives a year. They CANT engage because if they do at some point they have to talk about who is actually committing the violence, and that means a PC war. But...let there be a school shooting or some other victims they can actually exploit and they spill from the sewers. What is the FIRST THING they do? What they always wanted to do and cant...ban guns. So...THEY initiate these new laws and bans with an emotional appeal...you know..."for the children"...and the NRA says..."whoa there...not so fast...not just no but hell no. You cant ban guns...it is against the Constitution and in opposition to the rights of the VAST majority of law abiding gun owners in this country." and the left...those that INITIATED the attacks...then stand in unison, point their fingers like Donald Sutherland in Invasion of the Body Snatchers and scream "AUUUUGH!!! the NRA IS EEEEEVIL AND THE ROOT OF ALL THE VIOLENCE AND BLOODSHED IN SOCIETY!!!!" They create the boogieman and everyone ignores that elected officials have OPENLY declared their intent to violate the rights of law abiding citizens and in doing so violate their 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendment in the process. They announce their intent to confiscate, force, and coerce by any means necessary.
This battle isnt about the NRA...it is about politicians announcing their intent to violate the constitutional rights of law abiding citizens with policies and laws that they KNOW wont do a damn bit of good. Their response to the NRA (or to the republicans and Catholics that objected to being forced to accept their policies) is typical of ALL children that whine and cry when they dont get their way.
