Because criminals, by their very nature, do not obey the law.

Not to dismiss the tragedy of a school shooting...ANY school shooting...but...this kind of occurrence is pretty commonplace. There have been recent shootings at or near schools in Florida, Oregon, Ohio, North Carolina, Texas, and more than a few gang related shootings in schools in California (Compton, LA, Avalon Park, etc). And this says nothing of the number of students beaten or stabbed (a fairly day to day event) in schools across the country.

Tragic event. Hopefully families can put the pieces back together. This is a problem far greater than guns or what laws should or shouldnt have reduced the problems.

Dood...first...that tactic is annoying as hell. Second...let me play devils advocate. California's gun laws DID have an impact...why...they stopped it from being worse because all the guy used was a shotgun.

You arent as clever as you think you are being.

California is a model of sensible gun laws. Its universal background check system, strong gun dealer regulations, and assault clip ban are just some of the laws that provide a roadmap to preventing gun violence. Meanwhile, Arizona, Alaska, and Utah do not have a single common sense gun law on their books, according to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

That does not make them “strict” in a larger than the US sense.
