It's all so funny. Everyone up there on the hill is patting themselves on the back for getting over some fiscal crisis that they manufactured themselves from damn near thin air.

Re: Fiscal Cliff Bill Passes

Now that the GOP has failed to put a monkeywrench in the economic recovery (which they hoped to do with huge spending cuts), the Tea Party occupation of America is over. The economy will grow 3-4% next quarter and consistently thereafter. New tax revenues make spending cuts irrelevant, and debt will become meaningless, as it did after WWII.

Conservatism has officially become irrelevant. It has nothing to offer America and its future, which grows brighter every day.

Re: Fiscal Cliff Bill Passes

They passed it? damn republicans its all there fault. Grover and W get some of the blame. Oh wait they passed it right? So now who is Obama gonna blame? dysfunction junction is on capital hill.

Nah... there's going to be loads of other battles coming. I think this cliff deal didn't deal with the debt ceiling which I think is going to be a battle every time it can possibly be fabricated into a battle.

Depends on how you look it. If you wanted this out come, everyone can take some credit. If you wanted more cuts, do you blame democrats for not offering them or republicans for not holding firmer for them?

I can't wait to throw this in your face next quarter. Think you can keep from getting banned permanently so I can?

The GOP can't win the debt ceiling battle anymore. It can just make noises. As to deficit reduction, with 3% growth it will become a back burner issue. Conservatism thrives on economic chaos. With the economy rightwing itself after the Bush Titanic sinking, the GOP will become more and more marginalized.

Yep. Borrow and spend our way to properity! Taxation is not popular and gov't spending is popular (polls have proven this). Imagine if the typical US family was given the option to borrow/spend as much as they wished, to raise their own credit limits and give the banks more "cash" too?

Re: Fiscal Cliff Bill Passes

I wish the GOP would do what Rand Paul suggested. Just vote present for every single economic issue that comes across the docket. Don't fight for anything, don't put up a big show only to capitulate later, just go with the Dem agenda. By 2014ish, we'd see which ideology works.

Well, that would be illegal. Hey, you can't do that!

Re: Fiscal Cliff Bill Passes

certainly not the perfect bill, and neither side is happy, but at least it protects from tax hikes on the people that can least afford it.

Obama won the election the Republicans should have voted present. Let Obama and the left have everthing they want. A massive government with its population of dependent sheeple. Trillions upon trillions of debt with no way out. Thats right obstain from making decissions like Barry did when he was in congress.

I would prefer working together in a reasonable manner from both sides no matter who is in power.

You seem to have forgoten the payroll tax. As a middle class man I can expect a reduction in take home pay.

As would I but that has been proven to be beyond accomplishing by both sides.

Just curious... do you actually think Obama is the devil as your signature implies? Out to destroy America and all?

Reasonable is not in obama';s vocabulary.

Did you know that one of the things that boy wanted to avoid the fiscal cliff was unilateral control over the debt ceiling?

I just want the ridiculous amounts of filibustering to stop.

That boy wanted that? What an uppity person. Right?

You do realize most countries dont have a "debt ceiling"... Its very uncommon for a country to have a debt ceiling. Most countries must pay for laws they pass.

OMG did he seriously just say that? He did say boy didn't he. What a racist, get out the tar and feathers. Somebody get a rope.

They could duck their responsibility, that's true. Pout because thy lost, yes, they could do that. Call those who don't agree with them names (I'm sure Romney's moocher comment didn't hurt him at all). But instead of being immature breing immature has consequences as well. I think republicans known full well how that whiny ass behavior would play.
