I have no idea how pay raises fall under the power of the executive order. Oh right, they don't.

Btw, that deal was ****ing fantastic. Its just tax raises for those earning over $450 thousand and additional spending. I have to admit I'm surprised Obama moved up from $250, but my earlier predication about it actually increasing spending was right on the money.

The argument is that it was an EO that led to the pay freeze which prevented pay raises, so it was within his power to end said freeze, which allows for auto-raises.

Not that I agree with that argument, mind you.

Here's the actual text of the executive order, congressional pay raises are only part of it but I think its a part it could do without.

Is 165K a year plus pension, and millions in benefits, not quite enough, for a job that involves roughly 90 days of work per year?

When did the Koch Brothers bribe the Republicans?

No, that is equally stupid. Here's a tip:

When trying to figure out somebody's motivation, do not look upon their actions from your perspective. Try to look at it from their perspective.

And consider that congress isn't the only people affected by this. Nobody cares about giving Congress a raise, but there's plenty of hardworking federal employees who have had their pay frozen for years now.

Or maybe you think FBI agents and air traffic controllers should be paid less.
