    Retired Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf dies

    Retired Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf dies

WASHINGTON (AP) Retired Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf, who topped an illustrious military career by commanding the U.S.-led international coalition that drove Saddam Hussein's forces out of Kuwait in 1991 but kept a low public profile in controversies over the second Gulf War against Iraq, died Thursday. He was 78.
Schwarzkopf died in Tampa, Fla., where he had lived in retirement, according to a U.S. official, who was not authorized to release the information publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Nothing much I can add, I liked him.
"He who does not think himself worth saving from poverty and ignorance by his own efforts, will hardly be thought worth the efforts of anybody else." -- Frederick Douglass, Self-Made Men (1872)
"Fly-over" country voted, and The Donald is now POTUS.

    True American right there.
Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.

Another decent fellow. May he rest in peace and may God be with his family.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

A teddy bear who was also a warrior elite. Before the computer age, Stormin' Norman introduced many of us to the beginning of the high-tech age. A clip that all of us who saw it will never forget. "The luckiest man in Iraq".

Thank you General Schwarzkopf. One of a kind you were.

Either you're being disingenuous or you are inexcusably ignorant of recent American history.

I fear we will lose George H.W., his commander in chief, soon as well.
The morality of abortion is not a religious belief, any more than the morality of slavery, apartheid, rape, larceny, murder or arson is a religious belief. These are norms of the natural law of mankind and can be legislated even in a completely religionless society.

Let me add a bit to Norman's pedigree. His Father was also a General in the Army. At least two star. But more to history. His Dad has also been head of the New Jersey State Police, and headed up the invesitgation into the kidnapping and murder of the Lindbergh baby. He's a Jersey boy, and I lived not far from where Norman grew up.

He kicked Saddam's ass on the cheap, at the direction of the Elder Bush. A technique unfortunately not learned by the Junior Bush <sigh>
