Former President George H.W. Bush remains in an intensive care unit at a Houston hospital with a "stubborn fever that is slightly elevated," his spokesman told CNN on Wednesday.He has been in the intensive care unit at Methodist Hospital since Sunday, spokesman Jim McGrath said, and has been hospitalized there for over a month.

Sorry to see he's bad off. He's probably the classiest president we've had in my life time. If he's got to go, I pray it's quick and quiet.

I didn't vote for him but I did respect him. When he raised taxes, he was classy about admitting his error and that made me respect him all the more.

Now, everything is "blame the other guy - admit no failings".

He has my best wishes.

it just shows how serious routine illnesses can be for those who are lucky enough to reach that age. best wishes for a full recovery.

The only reason I'm concerned about the President's being in the ICU is because this is new info. He'd been hospitalized early in November for what was described as a "persistent cough" from bronchitis, and then he went back later last month. I thought surely he'd be home for Christmas, but the fact that he wasn't and that now the info is that he's in ICU makes me wonder.

But I wouldn't shuffle him off to Buffalo just yet; just a couple of years ago, he was skydiving just a couple of years ago to celebrate his 85th birthday!

It's hard when you are older. Small things become big things. Especially a cold sliding into a pneumonia kind of thing. Hope he can pull through. He was just jumping out of airplanes what... a couple years ago?

I'm pretty sure that was his 80th birthday so probably 8 years ago.

Yeah, when you start getting up there in age things don't exactly come back together the way we'd like.

At his age things can go bad fast with very little provocation. They used to call pneumonia "the old man's friend" because it was the way to a relatively comfortable death for the very old. Sounds like that might be what is going on.

By RAMIT PLUSHNICK-MASTI Associated Press HOUSTON (AP) -- A spokesman says the fever that kept former President George H.W. Bush in a Houston hospital over Christmas has worsened, and doctors have put him on a liquids-only diet.
Jim McGrath had said earlier Wednesday that the fever had gone away. He later corrected himself and said the fever "elevated" in recent days. McGrath says doctors also put the 88-year-old former president on a liquid diet, though he could not say why.
McGrath says doctors have been treating the "stubborn" fever with Tylenol but still haven't nailed down a cause.

Things don't seem to be looking good for former Pres. Bush.
 
Hopefully they are just being overly cautious. He is the last world caliber President we have had in the country before the reality stars took over.
