Harry Reid: "We're going over the cliff"

My first estimate is that my taxes will go up by just over 10K. So I let one of my occasional workers go in November. I will still have to cut back in other ways. Money I would have spent locally will disappear in Washington.

I will take appropriate measures. I may put in an additional underground fuel tank and water tank. I will buy a small generator to deal with the power outages. I can stock up on some canned goods and grains. Ammunition and reloading equipment, of course. I have been evaluating solar panels and a battery farm.

No more money for my children.

I think most that talk is hype. Bu if we go over the cliff, it will be felt.

Nothing that required invasion. We did not have to nation build.

I'll give it to ya on the nation building, but did you forget the whole event surrounding 9/11/01....And what the Taliban said when we demanded they turn over OBL? If you wouldn't go in after 9/11, one wonders what if anything is worth projecting US force to you.

No I didn't. And had Bush gone in right away, got OBL, and car home, that would have made sense. Using it as an excuse to invade two two countries recklessly, losing the goodwill we had at the moment made him a fool.

What did you think was hype? There are calculators that will roughly identify the value of all of the new taxes. Barack Hussein Obama's free health care will be very expensive. I think I will be paying about 5% more for the identified taxes. I saw on CNN that a family earning 106K will see their taxes go up by more than 7K. My household income is well above that figure.

We have one small underground fuel tank. I think one more will do the trick. And water as well. Just a couple of hundred gallons, I think. I have a pantry full of canned goods. I need to take stock of what it would take for two of us to eat for two to three weeks..

I deal with solar energy where I work. It might be time to add 4-5 square meters of solar panels on the south facing part of my roof.

do us a favor and drop the decade old talking points from code pink...But wait, you said:

so which is it? either you think nothing required invasion of A-stan, or you think if he'd have done things your way it'd be ok....Which one? You can't have it both ways.

About my household income as well, it it won effect me t all. I won't change a thing I do.

We're both defining he act differently. Going in and out is different than in and staying. Call it whatever you want.

I know this your standard avoidance tactic, but no. I've said the same things for years.

I know, that's what makes it so funny, is that you really don't see how foolish your position is about Kerry and his attempt to play both sides of this...but you, you don't even question, you just parrot his lame ass excuse verbatim and think everyone else is out of step when they are laughing at you.

It only seems that way when you're not tying to understand a point, but pretending to win by ignoring.

Win? what do I win? That's your problem, you think this is about winning the argument, when in truth it really is about your deceptive argument, and hackery....:lamo

No, I don't think it's about winning. But if it were about truth for you, you would not have answered as you did.

Here we are, folks!

As the final hours of our "march towards the cliff" tick away we've got lawmakers from both parties scrambling behind the scenes to make that last second deal that will save us all from the depths of the abyss...
... and if anyone believes a word of that I've got a couple of bridges in New York for sale.

We're being had. There is no cliff and even if there was does anyone really believe that there is anything magic about the date 12-31-2012? As if a deal struck, say, a week from now couldn't do the exact same thing as a deal struck today? Never in my 45 years have I felt this level of distrust in government. My skepticism that has slowly drifted to cynicism has now evolved into outright disgust. These people treat us as if we were children incapable of understanding what is going on.

Republicans are going to pay a huge political price if they continue to hold the middle/working classes hostage in order to protect tax cuts for the wealthy. The overwhelming majority of Americans (near 70%) agree with President Obama on this issue and hold the GOP responsible. Are Republicans really this stupid? or are they just so tied to the super wealthy that they just cannot bring themselves to do what is right for the 99% of the rest of America?

And in real terms exactly how much of the debt will be eliminated by increasing taxes on the 'rich'? I'm sure you can tell us. Only the uneducated believe it will have any bearing on our financial issues.

Its a start in the right direction and helps stem what would otherwise be huge cuts to the defense department. The bottom line is....why is the gop willing to hold the middle class and working classes hostage in order to keep huge tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans? Luckily....the overwhelming majority of the American people see what is going on and get it. I don't believe that the GOP could play this any worse that they have. The must want to become a regional party for the forseeable future.

What's the difference between the middle class and the working class? Are you insinuating that the middle class doesn't work? Yes you are, using communist terminology.

Try this simple experiment with your boss. Explain that you now spend 40% more than your salary supports, yet have carefully studied your budget and can make no cuts. The only "fair" solution, that you can come up with, is to receive an immediate salary increase of 10%, in return for which you will do nothing extra, at all, on the job, but will spend it quickly, as you will still have a budget deficit of 36%, and be back next year (month?) to ask for even more compensation as a just reward for your fine work and personal spending habits.

When your boss stops laughing, and then suggests that a substance abuse test may be in order, you will get the explanation that you deserve. ;)

Yep. All of the "bad" stuff is the result of the prior (other?) party's policies and all of the "good" stuff is the result of hope and change. After a decade, or so, the truth will be allowed into history books (maybe).

The fact of the matter is that the truth rarely comes out in the history books.

No he is not. The difference between the middle and working classes is that the middle class gets a salary pay and is usually college educated while the working class usually gets and hourly pay and their work consists of physical rather than intellectual labor. Of course, this is common knowledge.

Study your sociological terms. Working class is a term that is used to define people who are not middle class. Its not "communist" terminology......check any collegiate...or probably even high school coursebook.
