Maybe we should provide a room at each school where kids can have sex and have a teacher there to make sure everything is done right.
Ahh conjugal educational visits....or conjugal school visits

Re: Condoms for free at 22 city schools

It's almost the year 2013. Sorry, abstinence does NOT work. I think schools should teach about abstinence in sex ed class as well as birth control.

Unfortunately, not all parents will teach their children about condoms or abstinence. There are PLENTY of parents out there that won't talk about sex at all to their kids.

I'm sure the costs of these condoms are relatively cheap and they will NOT harm the children. If only some of the teens actually utilize them and prevent themselves from getting pregnant or from getting an STD, then it is totally worth it.

We have a teen pregnancy and STD EPIDEMIC in this country. All of you self-righteous asses take note.

Sexual Risk Behavior: HIV, STD, & Teen Pregnancy Prevention

Many young people engage in sexual risk behaviors that can result in unintended health outcomes. For example, among U.S. high school students surveyed in 2011:

47.4% had ever had sexual intercourse
33.7% had had sexual intercourse during the previous 3 months, and, of these
39.8% did not use a condom the last time they had sex
76.7% did not use birth control pills or Depo-Provera to prevent pregnancy the last time they had sex
15.3% had had sex with four or more people during their life

Sexual risk behaviors place adolescents at risk for HIV infection, other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and unintended pregnancy:

An estimated 8,300 young people aged 13–24 years in the 40 states reporting to CDC had HIV infection in 2009
Nearly half of the 19 million new STDs each year are among young people aged 15–24 years
More than 400,000 teen girls aged 15–19 years gave birth in 2009

To reduce sexual risk behaviors and related health problems among youth, schools and other youth-serving organizations can help young people adopt lifelong attitudes and behaviors that support their health and well-being—including behaviors that reduce their risk for HIV, other STDs, and unintended pregnancy.

Like anyone else when they need something they need to pay for it themselves or they need to find someone willing to do it for them. Condoms are cheap as hell so they have no good excuse to be irresponsible. I don't see any good reason schools have provide condoms or really anything else other than schooling.

Well obviously as people demand other people to cover their asses more the government will respond by covering your ass more. Surprising? No, not really.

Why in the world are the kids of today excused from the responsibility of abstinence to prevent the risk of pissing away their future? This statement just supports my view that personal responsibility is continuously on the decline in this country. We overgeneralize the statement that it's okay to make mistakes by supporting this kind of crap. Teach the kids about how they'll most likely make their future painfully challenging if they get a disease or have a kid too early. If they wait until they graduate and prepare for work to secure their future, they have how many years left to screw?

The point is that teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases are BIG problems, and a lot of parents do NOT talk to their kids about it.

What is more destructive and costly? Condoms or unwanted pregnancies and diseases?

The kids of today are not doing anything that kids didn't always do. It was just hidden and brushed under the carpet so many years ago when they would send pregnant teens to special homes so that the community wouldn't know.

I am so happy I don't have kids. I don't have to worry about this stuff, but I still think raising a baby as a teen makes it more difficult to go to college and have a higher quality of life. I am for doing everything to prevent teen pregnancy. If free condoms cuts the rate, I see nothing wrong with it. Condoms should probably used by more adults as well. Bars and pubs probably need dispensers too.

Then instead of telling me to buy these kids' condoms, you should criticize the parents and tell them to get their crap together when it comes to parenting. Continuing my point about the lack of responsibility, you are excusing and/or ignoring the irresponsibility of parents.
