That clown Boehner's Plan B was so ridiculous that not even the extremists in his own party would for it. What was he thinking? Boehner obviously must have thought he had the votes, but no. So instead of doing his job and sticking it out to negotiate something that could at least get 45 votes from his own party to pass (if got the Dems came on board), he tucks his tail between legs and scurry's home to cry his drunken eyes out, leaving the country to slide into another recession.....

Boehner Cancels Tax Vote in Face of G.O.P. Revolt

...House Republican leaders abruptly canceled a vote on the bill after they failed to rally enough votes for passage in an emergency meeting about 8 p.m. Within minutes, dejected Republicans filed out of the basement meeting room and declared there would be no votes to avert the “fiscal cliff” until after Christmas. With his “Plan B” all but dead, the speaker was left with the choice to find a new Republican way forward or to try to get a broad deficit reduction deal with President Obama that could win passage with Republican and Democratic votes.

What he could not do was blame Democrats for failing to take up legislation he could not even get through his own membership in the House...read

I'm confused. Are you saying that raising taxes on millionaires is ridiculous?

Actually, it was going to allow loopholes that would allow a reduction in the taxes of the wealthy while closing loopholes for the middle class. the supposed tax hike was actually a falsehood. it still was enough to anger the extremists in his party who could not see the forest for the trees. Had they actually voted for it then obama would have looked like the guy who ran away right before the cliff. Instead it is clear that house republicans are the problem because obama cannot do much without a bill on his desk. Whether he would veto it, or the senate would down it, is pointless now as reps couldn't get over their own hate for each other to pass it.

this infighting is bad for the party that used to all goosestep together. that was their power for the longest time that they really stuck together no matter how crazy the bill. The radical right who will accept no compromise and wants everything is splitting their party and making them ineffective.

it is a lovely christmas present. they did not have to destroy their party just for a christmas wish. I would have accepted some higher taxes on the rich and some closed high end loopholes like writing off your ballarina horsey. So to republicans happy holidays. may you have a joyus kawanzaa or however you spell it and a happy new year. Oh, and happy santa day also.

i have to say it this year is worth another recession if it happens. republicans screwed themselves in the election, the tea party bombed big time. Now they are going to be so busy squabbling they are going to ruin their military budget and screw thei corporate backers. Obama is awesome. Soon their guns are going to be taken away. Seriously, what is next? Will jesus come back and register as a democrat? Will he bring ronald reagan back and they will both be democrats? Is it too much to hope for someone at faux news to snap and kill Bill O and rush? Is sean hannity going to get cancer? Will rupert completely loose his mind and turn faux news into the My Little Pony network?

I was hoping for a response from the OP, not some stone thrower from her glass house.

Republicans are destroying themselves from within and without any help from the Left or Obama. Just sit back and enjoy the show. I wonder if Republicans know that Santa Claus is a Democrat? They're at the top of his naughty list. Merry Xmas, Republicans. LOL

Don't we already have a thread on this very topic? Or was this just a way to flame in your very own turd of a thread?

Sorry, was the truth painful? Were you hoping the OP would lie to you to make you feel better? Well that is fox's job. You are looking at the wrong monitor, you have to watch the Tv for fox news to make you feel better and to pretend the world exists as you want it.

HTH and HAND.

Plan B' Vote Spiked In House In Major Setback For Boehner

House vote fails,

- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) failed to muscle a controversial fiscal cliff fallback through the House Thursday night, suddenly pulling the bill after spending almost a week on a plan that Democrats called a waste of time

The failure to bring the measure to a vote kills Boehner's "Plan B" and moves the nation one large step closer to the so-called fiscal cliff looming on Jan. 1, when a combination of tax hikes and spending cuts are set to start kicking in. It also marks a major setback for Boehner, who was unable to marshal enough of his fractious, Tea Party-inspired members, even after he and other leaders had pledged earlier in the day that they would succeed.
"The House did not take up the tax measure today because it did not have sufficient support from our members to pass," Boehner said in a statement. "Now it is up to the president to work with Senator Reid on legislation to avert the fiscal cliff. The House has already passed legislation to stop all of the January 1 tax rate increases and replace the sequester with responsible spending cuts that will begin to address our nation's crippling debt. The Senate must now act."

No, I was trying to engage the original poster because of the comment about Plan B. But then some crazy person, who keeps posting the same thing on every post about Fox news and other nonsense, showed up. I DON'T WATCH FOX NEWS! Please try to engage someone who actually hold the values you accuse them of having and leave me alone.

The Plan B was simply a voodoo bill that defined a "compromise" on raising the taxes of all but addressed no spending cuts at all, and surely would never pass in the Senate. The trick now seems to be to decouple spending cuts from tax increases entirely. The original GOP "plan" was $3 in spending cuts for $1 in tax increases, then we got "the cliff", now Obama wants "balance" ($2 in tax increases now for $1 in "possible future" spending cuts), Boehner comes back with "lets just raise taxes a teeny, tiny bit on the very, very richest" and "talk about" spending later.

These morons in DC, all of those congress critters, will decide, next week to pass a "kick the can down the road" bill and will cheer about "comming together" and "bipartisan support" and celebrate not reducing the defict but claiming to have "saved us" from the "fiscal cliff" - the funny thing about that, is that the "fiscal cliff" was also totally the work of bipartisan congress critters (the "stupid committee" deal). These DC morons now simply create the "crisis" (in August) and then pretend to save "us" from it (in December), all the while, continuing to borrow in our names and spend in their names. USA, USA, USA...

Uh, Plan B was the most recent proposal from Nancy Pelosi. Boehner threw it out there because Obama just flatly denied any other plan that was put in front of him... and Obama denied that one as well. Bipartisanship my a$$. Obama is not compromising, as he keeps saying he is doing. When presented with a plan crafted by his own top rep in the house he turned it down. What Boehner did was make it obvious that Obama is intentionally pushing us over the cliff and raising taxes on everyone, even though he STILL is saying he doesn't want to. Wake up people.

I'm not at all surprised House Republicans turned it down, it was not at all what they wanted. Boehner went as far as he was willing to go, Obama said no. Game over.

For any of you who can remember back that far, this same thing happened in the early Bush 43 days. Remember the partially privatized SS plan that was soundly beaten to death by the media? You know, the "Bush SS proposal"? The one he didn't structure or for that matter know much about? Yeah, that was the result of the findings by the Commisssion for Social Security Reform assembled by Clinton after he presented the so called Budget Surplus report, an example of the kind of fuzzy math we have grow accustomed to. But have a plan designed by a mixed committee ordered by a democrat and presented by a republican and it's BAD.

Same thing here. A plan designed by a head democrat presented by a Republican, and OMG WE CAN'T DO THAT! Obama will refuse ANY plan put before him, and the House Republicans rejected Pelosi's plan. Are we surprised? Not really, but we'll play politics and partisan hackery to the death, because that's what our government is all about. And the "low information voters" (you know who you are) will watch their taxes go up (as planned) and will still blame it on the Republicans. See, that's the definition of idiots voting. You are being flatly lied to but you believe what you are told because the guy doing the lying has a nice smile and appeared on your favorite (non)news show.

I disagree. I don't remember any Republicans stating that they were trying to save tax breaks for the already wealthy. And then Boner got to say "Obama will be responsible for the largest tax increase in history." I just loved that as he stood there proudly like a gorilla thumping his chest and braying loudly. Hint: You pay down deficits with taxes. I'm for more taxes, less Military Offense spending, minor SS change, and let's kill those Corporate Welfare queens like Nuke power, fossil fuel subsidies, unneeded weapons systems, fake Renewable Energy programs and start promoting business on a local scale including small farms.

Re: Plan B' Vote Spiked In House In Major Setback For Boehner

Looks more and more like that pay envelope is gonna be a bit lighter come 1/1/13. But, that's what the majority voted for. So be it.

Re: Plan B' Vote Spiked In House In Major Setback For Boehner

Plan B was boehners plan...new poll out shows that the majority of republicans 53% believe the gop is being to extreme with fiscal cliff...the republicans are in trouble, not only with fiscal cliff negotiations but as a whole...the teaparty plan for the gop has flopped HUGELY but theres a few still trying to hang on.

To me this entire election and these negotiations reenforce what ive felt along time..politicians being elected to national office once they get there dont have to do whats right for the country...only what their little district wants them to do to enable them to win re election..and thats WHATS WRONG WITH WASHINGTON...if they all had to answer to all americans then they would be more tuned into whats good for the country to get re elected than just their little district

It's a shame Romney/Ryan didn't win.

Ryan knows the way to go forward is to gut entitlement programs like welfare, medicare, and social security.

Do you even do any research or do you just blindly follow Obama's tweets?

Raising taxes, as has been shown time and again, will not decrease our financial woes. How much will an increase in taxation of the 'wealthy' bring in? When billions are the result of revenue and trillions are the result of spending guess what? Decreasing spending will decrease our debt problem. But, we all know that. Generally when households get a raise, they have a tendency to upgrade which means more spending. Our government is no different.

Please point to a link where Ryan wanted to 'gut' welfare, medicare and SS johnny. I look forward to your response.

He da' man, don't ya know. Now if we could get his "wellie" pointer to notice the Mothers of all Welfare Queens like Nuclear Power, Fossil Fuel subsidies, false renewable energy programs, etc., we could begin to make progress. I mean, it has to be obvious that if we could just get another billion or two into those bankers hands, we could really move some paper.

Medicare and Social Security aren't entitlements.
