Debt service and other budget items? What sort of nonsense babble is that? The public debt consists of two parts -- first, intragovernmental holdings representing Treasury securities sold to those among some 180 federal trust funds that acquire sufficient surpluses to require investment, and second, debt held by the public representing Treasury securities sold to everybody else. How hard is that to keep up with?

Better tell that to the Treasury Dept. Amazing how smart people like you think you are. Do you know what an estimate is?

Here are the numbers from the Treasury for 2011-2010-2009

You are that old and know so little? Amazing, looks to me like a real cry for school vouchers.

For years people contribute to SS, SS was spent(borrowed from intergovt. holdings and replaced with IOU's) and when these people retire and there are not enough workers to fund their retirement the govt. will print or borrow money to repay the IOU's and people like you have no problem with it. Sad when someone your age shows how little you know about the budget, deficits, debt

Yes. Do you know which from among 2011, 2012, and 2013 numbers in a 2013 budget are estimated?

Your claim was that the defense budget has never been more than it is today and that is over 700 billion. Obviously, you goofed that up on both counts.

Get some help reading the Treasury website as the Defense budget is over 700 billion today. No libertarian would ever support this President and his massive spending.

I thought it was congress that did the spending.
The haggardness of poverty is everywhere seen contrasted with the sleekness of wealth, the exhorted labor of some compensating for the idleness of others, wretched hovels by the side of stately colonnades, the rags of indigence blended with the ensigns of opulence; in a word, the most useless profusion in the midst of the most urgent wants.Jean-Baptiste Say

Apparently only when a Democrat is in the WH since Bush gets the blame for the debt that occurred during his term. You see Bush failed during Hurricane Katrina but it was Congress that failed under Hurricane Sandy. Have you figured how it works now? By the way, still waiting for you to admit you were wrong regarding the 600 billion being a 10 year projection and not a yearly income projection as you claimed?

School vouchers have consistently failed to deliver what backers promise. They are a proven loser -- a waste of time and money.

This is called investing surplus funds so as to earn interest and allow the the funds to grow. This thas been a common practice for at least 500 years. Do you do any investing, or do you just keep hoards of cash in an old coffee can?

You call govt spending on operations an investment? I do invest and have made a lot of money investing in ventures that actually generate a return, not print or borrow money to pay for a return on that investment. You seem to not understand that IOU's have to be funded and have no concept where that money is going to come from. when you invest in a private business and get a return there is no doubt where that money comes from.
