What say you? Legitimate action or suppression of free speech?
I just love it. It's not suppression of free speech. It's using the laws of the land (just like Westboro does) to effect change. I hope they get 'er done. Great news. Losing their tax-exempt status will change everything for them.

i'm not sure why they should be tax exempt. i'm also somewhat shocked that they are still able to call themselves Baptists. there are many Baptist churches out there which actually work to help their communities. one would think they would unite to put pressure on this hate group to stop using the term "Baptist" as part of its identity.

How in the hell would this constitute a 'suppression of free speech'?

Ask the people who agree with this view. Not saying that I agree, but I view it as an interesting question.

Because calling yourself a church doesn't make you a church. If it does, I hereby declare the Church of Me, and expect not to pay any taxes next year.

Say what you will about Westboro (and what you'd say is probably correct), but the Klan is a much graver threat than the Westboro Baptsist Church has ever been or ever will be. And if the Klan is counter-protesting, it's only to make themselves appear 'reasonable' and 'moderate' in comparison - and consequentially more attractive than they are at present.

Who agrees with it? There is no right to speech free of consequences.

When a religious organization misuses its facilities it deserves what it gets. Maybe theres a sink hole underneath.

yeah... that's kind of how I see it. As a recruiting tool.

I like this idea. It may even make those right wing extremist churches understand what they are actually suppose to be doing
