[h=1]ESPN’s Parker: RGIII A ‘Cornball Brother’ Due To White Fiancee, Possible Republican Leanings[/h]
Rob Parker, a contributor for ESPN’s “First Take” morning show, questioned Griffin’s standing as a black man, asking whether the quarterback was a “cornball brother,” and later saying that the black quarterback is “not one of us.”

“He’s black... but he’s not really down with the cause; he’s not one of us,”...

ESPN’s Parker: RGIII A ‘Cornball Brother’ Due To White Fiancee, Possible Republican Leanings « CBS DC

Parasite Nation sport reporter reveals the lo-down on Democrats tolerance of black men who don't follow the Al Sharpton Wing of the Democrat Party.

What "cause" is Rob Parker referring to?
Certainly seems Parasite Nation has a place for its black men. What might it be?

“For me, you don’t ever want to be defined by the color of your skin,” Griffin told reporters on Wednesday. “You want to be defined by your work ethic, the person that you are, your character, your personality. That’s what I’ve tried to go out and do.

“I am an African-American in America. That will never change. But I don’t have to be defined by that.”
In 61 words he showed me he is a man of character. Hats of to you buddy.

RGIII is awesome.

It's a shame people like this espn guy exists.

Re: ESPN’s Parker: RGIII A ‘Cornball Brother’ Due To White Fiancee, Possible Republic

I've long stopped watching ESPN after a few "reporting" sagas. Bias is massive at ESPN. There tends to be an anti-LA/NYC/Boston mentality there. But this isn't Rob Parker's first time putting his foot in his mouth.. an incident cost him a job in Detroit and he had the gall to belittle Hank Aaron for declining to watch Barry Bonds pass his record and demanding a reason for it. Anybody who watches baseball and knows it traditions knows exactly why.. But this one takes the cake. If ESPN doesn't fire him and his other employers I wouldn't be surprised. But RGIII has handled this with class and so has his family.

Funnily enough Rob Parker lost his job in Detroit due to fabricating a story about a guy whose now RG3's backup.

As to Parker's statements...ridiculous. Utter ridiculous. And couldn't be aimed at a better kid either. RG3's handling of the "black quarterback" questions that routinely come up has been outstanding. To be lambasted as being "not really black" because he has a white fiance or because he may vote Republican is just ridiculous. For Parker to go on later stating he was speaking for the real brothers in the barbershop, not college educated ones, is just amazingly outlandish. To suggest that because RG3 had braids he looked "urban" and THAT made him more of a "brother" would cause the world to explode in other situations.

Parker's a dumbass, and as I said in the sports forum, when Stephen A. Smith is setting you straight on racial comments you know you've gone WAY off the reservation.

Re: ESPN’s Parker: RGIII A ‘Cornball Brother’ Due To White Fiancee, Possible Republic

He's still employed because Skip Bayless vouches for him. Frankly I think they were glad when Stephen A. Smith took over full-time.

Re: ESPN’s Parker: RGIII A ‘Cornball Brother’ Due To White Fiancee, Possible Republic

RGIII is awesome.

It's a shame people like this espn guy exists.

He would be even more awesome if he played for a respectable team instead of the Washington Foreskins.

Re: ESPN’s Parker: RGIII A ‘Cornball Brother’ Due To White Fiancee, Possible Republic

This parker is part of the crowd that thinks that establishing an African-American society is better than creating an American society. He is playing to that crowd. The same crowd that has members on welfare that refer to educated, well dressed and well spoken blacks as "uppity niggers, black honkies, acting white" and other less than complimentary terms I have heard repeatedly from that crowd. It is sad that these racist that embrace such ideas don't see that they are the primary cause of racism against blacks and that that attitude, not society or white-on-black racism, has chained so many blacks to poverty and the welfare line.

While like many blacks, he has used the route of sports to rise up, I have a feeling that he probably would of become successful at something else had he not had such talent in a sport. Not many sports figures, of any race, can I actually say that about. And unlike many in pro-sports, I don't see him being completely broke in less than 10 years after retiring.

Re: ESPN’s Parker: RGIII A ‘Cornball Brother’ Due To White Fiancee, Possible Republic

Don't know really anything about RGIII, but I have to say from what I have heard from him he sounds like a stand-up guy. The person that asked the stupid "cornball" question should be utterly ashamed of himself. I don't know who writes the checks for the guy asking the question, but they should REALLY reconsider what kind of guy they hired.

Seems liberals are avoiding this thread in droves.

I'm not surprised.

I don't watch ESPN, so I don't know much about this Rob Parker...but from the report in the OP, I'd say he's a dumbass racist hack. Why does he still have a job?

Re: ESPN’s Parker: RGIII A ‘Cornball Brother’ Due To White Fiancee, Possible Republic

Guys, these are sports people. they are not the smartest people. Of course they are going to say stupid racial crap. What is worse is poor zimmer. he doesn't even know this is one twit's opinion. The poor guy is so out of it he thinks the entire black community is like this guy. Can someone go to his house and take hiom to walmart to meet some people or something? I really think he has been spending way too much time locked up in a little room with fox TV on and he really needs an intervention.

You do realize that he's talking about a sports person. Are there other groups of people you overgeneralize about? What are you watching in your little room?

Re: ESPN’s Parker: RGIII A ‘Cornball Brother’ Due To White Fiancee, Possible Republic

I have quietly waited to see how the DC fandom reacts when they find out RG3 is a Republican.

LOL

What exactly are "sports people?" Are they the ones who talk about those ball thingies?

If you are implying that right now I am watching something incredibly stupid you said it not me.

They would be the people on ESPN. BTW your little picture below your name is WRONG! That would be two terms.

I can promise you, DC woudn't care at this point if he came out as a Constitutional Party Satanist....Democrats and Republicans would still regard him as RGesus. There's little to nothing this man could do that'd cause an issue with the DC fanbase.

But really...as written by a black democrat on a Redskins board I'm on "Expecting a Texan kid from a military family to not be a Republican is like expecting a person with the last name of Kennedy from Massachusetts not being a Democrat"

Well anyone that pays attention can say that it is truly the mindset for a large portion if not almost all of the black culture. Where the hell have you been hiding? Do you seriously expect us to believe that you have no idea that there are degrees of black in this country, and only the blackest of the black is mainstream.

To be fair....his comments are being roundly blasted by just about every black individual I know personally, on message boards, in the media, etc. Local radio here had former black players, like Lavar Arrington, ripping him for the comments. You had players like Torrey Smith and Chad Johnson ripping it as completely ignorant. I've found / seen VERY few people actually come out in defense of these comments.

Sure players and former players, but when Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson start lambasting this guy then I'll have a little more faith until then, my comment stands, anecdotal as it may be.

You overgeneralized about sports people and your later post backs away from it. Who else just did that?

Oh right, the object of the original post who works for ESPN.

Yeah...a liberal not finding this an interesting topic...more likely they don't want to be in a position of attempting to defend this bozo's statements. That's why I'm not surprised they are avoiding it.
